To add to the mold list - any bottle of wine with a natural cork. I've had a couple of bad reactions.
Thankfully, I've never had an allergic reaction to wine. I enjoy wine and would be very disappointed if I were allergic to it. Other than an occasional Margarita in a Mexican restaurant, I don't drink any other alcohol. I mostly like red wine that has some health benefits, in moderation, of course. Are There Health Benefits to Drinking Red Wine?

My daughter had her COVID vaccination yesterday, and I made a big pot of vegetable soup. Thinking that she might not be feeling well today but she has no complaints except a little soreness in her arm.

Still, we are enjoying homemade vegetable soup tonight. One of my friends makes delicious rich vegetable broth, and she gave me several quarts to keep in my freezer. I used some of it for the soup.

Nice friend.

Thanks for the reminder about the vax. I plan to get the flu shot next week on Friday since I have a big event on Thursday and I don't want to risk feeling blech for that. I'll get the covid boost after that....or are people doing them at the same time?

Some people are doing both shots at the same time but not me. I got my flu shot a couple of weeks ago and plan to get my COVID vaccination next week.

Nino's is featuring chuck roast this week. Pot roast with carrots, onion, and potatoes in the oven. I realize that this would have been a good opportunity to use my slow cooker, but we didn't have the roast until this morning. DH went to Nino's while I was having my teeth cleaned; I read while he was in the dental lounger. We were back home in time for the Michigan game. GO BLUE!

We'll probably go out for dinner tomorrow as we haven't been for two weeks and only had takeout once in the same time frame. There will be leftover pot roast and veggies for a few days next week. We both need a break from cooking.

Produce pickup had a big bag of little cucumbers. But the majority were spoiled. I managed to salvage 2. The onions & cauliflower were too spoiled. I will take them out to my compost bin.

Romaine, iceberg, a bagged salad, tiny carrots, tiny tomatoes so lots to make a salad with.

Glad to have the regular potatoes. All we had was 2 sweet potatoes and neither of us are fans. Kiddos been roasting them with seasonings for her meal prep.

Pomegranate seeds will be good on yogurt. Kiddo likes them. I’m not even sure if I can eat them.

It’s time to make banana bread. Maybe I’ll make that pumpkin banana bread recipe again.

I noticed it too. Nice model! And now I have chopper envy. The one I have is an attachment to an immersion blender that my husband keeps putting on a high shelf because "we don't use it." He doesn't use it, but I do! LOL. We have the same conversation repeatedly.

Enjoy your haul! You certain have enough bananas for banana bread for all of us. ;)

I love my immersion blender. We make soups frequently, and I used to have to transfer soup to my Vitamix if I needed to blend it.

With the immersion blender I can blend soup right in the cooking pot.

I have had an immersion blender for years, love it. Sausage gravy to go over biscuits comes out velvet smooth using it.

Just used mine moments ago: bananas, yogurt, chocolate syrup. I'd show you a picture but I drank it. :)

We seldom use heavy cream in soups, though often the recipes will list it as an ingredient. Instead, we remove half the soup and blend it, then stir it back to the pot. It makes the soup much creamier.

Well, my cute little chopper thing did a great job with the bananas and my hands don't hurt! Just smooshing ripe bananas can make my right thumb up into my wrist ache. Love my new "tool" and it's so easy to clean. I made a double batch of Pumpkin Banana Bread. It's almost cool enough to wrap & freeze.

The holiday season is fast approaching, and Thanksgiving is next week. Will you be preparing the Turkey Day feast, going to someone else's house, ordering Thanksgiving dinner from a restaurant or store, or dining out? Please share your plans for Turkey Day, menus, recipes, etc.

I used to enjoy making Thanksgiving dinner for local family, but it's just too much work for me now. Last year we invited our niece and her family to join us for Turkey Day dinner at Picano's, and we will do the same this year. There will be a special menu that includes a traditional turkey dinner for those who want it, with other choices of meat, poultry, fish, and pasta dishes. Food and service were wonderful, and we look forward to another enjoyable Thanksgiving dinner at Picano's next week.

We really don’t have a Tday plan. I could go to the holiday food pick up but I won’t. I’d rather my package go to a family that needs it more. I’m the only one here this year that eats meat. Plus there’s a whole chicken in the freezer.

They’ve opened the pickup to the public so that anyone can participate. I’m very happy they’ve changed their rule. At least for this holiday. (If you’re in Sarasota or DeSoto County you just show proof of residency.)

My oldest isn’t coming south this year. The youngest had a house / dog sitting job but, the family cancelled their plans. We will make some favorite foods and a safe pumpkin pie w/o ginger.

This is kinda food related. I’ve randomly decided to add to my “food forest” plan. My friend saves cardboard for me so I laid a bunch of it out back. I’m not sure what all I will plant yet.

My rutabaga did well last spring. The beets did not so I bought new seeds. I’m going to put seeds in a few cups and see what happens.

I’m not going to do an another metal raised bed. I have a lot of old concrete pieces the former owners left. I’ll edge it with those. I’ll put down hardware cloth (metal mesh) to prevent the voles from getting into the veggies. Then I’ll pile soil, compost & perlite in there. Stay tuned.

We don't really have a plan for Thanksgiving Day. We will have a Thanksgiving potluck meal for seniors at our church on Sunday and will take a dessert--probably maple pecan shortbread squares. Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy will be provided by the committee..
