The Avery's have a long tangled tree, it's true, but I believe SA was brought down by Sandra.

She's like the poisonous mean girl in high school who ruins lives with her nasty gossip. Even worse, the drunk adult version. She was married to a cop, and it was her close friend who suggested to Penny B. that her attacker "sounds like Steve Avery"... You don't really need to go back any further than that.

I have a very visceral gut reaction, to that barfly, everytime she's mentioned. I have known people like her. They don't torture animals, they torture people, emotionaly speaking.

Where I am from, someone most likely would have beat that woman to within an inch of her life, and no one would've done time for it. Or lost sleep over it.

Omg Safeguard YES!! I have told my husband " she's the type of girl I'd have loved to bump into at a bar "
In my younger years of course😉

It is not a science at all.

It is pseudo-science:

"no statistically significant association between homicide perpetrators and early problems with... cruelty to animals"

No means no.

1968 just goes to show how along ago the triad theory had been debunked.

Your right it is just opinions. Some have their uninformed laymans opinion vs. Expert opinion.

The cat incident is irrelevant. None of us even know the true details of how that incident went down. Probably another set up to get SA behind bars. Looks like they have been trying to do that to him his whole life.

I am firmly convinced there is another "incident" that none of us have even heard about yet, that started this whole "MCSO vs. Avery's feud" decades ago. And they have been trying to make Steven pay for it ever since. JMO
CoolJ no doubt you're right, IMO.
Sandra seems to me like the chic who ran her mouth way to much to her hubby, cried wolf, and wouldn't know the truth if it bit her😉

He should have also done more time for the attempted abduction using a weapon.
The one he admitted to? Because he HAS admitted to EVERYTHING he's ever done that broke the law😉 YOU know..the one where the gun wasn't loaded and he was mad ..fed up with the lies and finally said enoughs enough and I can't take this anymore?? IMO
That one?

Actually... the gun was loaded when LE found it. I think SA said in his police interview that it wasn't. And maybe he didn't think it was, happens all the time, but the fact is, it was loaded.

SM seemed to be backtracking in her deposition about some of the things that were recorded that she said to LE. I wish we could see the whole thing

Well... LE says the gun was loaded. At this point I am unable to take their word for it over his. I mean, as I recall he did bring the gun home and hid it, and I don't think he's a pillar of honesty, by any means, but neither are the officers in the MCSO. So I'll just run with I don't know...if the gun was loaded or not.

Are statistics from nearly a half century ago meaningful today? I'm not sure. Maybe there's more recent data that supports this. And what does any of this have to do with the subject of this thread? "Where Do You Think Teresa Halbach was Killed?"

From the personal experience of myself, and others I know, I don't believe there is a connection to ONE incident of animal cruelty and a future propensity to commit murder.

With regards to the purity of the topic...No one has any idea where she was killed RANCH, If we stayed strictly on topic this thread would be stagnant. Often happens as we discuss one aspect of this case, we digress into other related areas. ( and some friendly chatter. No harm if kept brief!)...

For instance I would like to ask you, if you enjoyed your "Working Vacation"? I hope you did! :) I know that's not related to where TH was killed, but I enjoy learning a little bit about my fellow posters. It makes for a great community here, and as far as I know, it doesn't violate any rules to talking among ourselves as we go along.

A joke or two, a little chatter, Can be a way to relieve the tension of a seriously brutal topic, and build relationships between participants. I appreciate the hard work and dedication of those who participate here. I learn a great deal, from the research of others, and sometimes a connection is made, and there is no dedicated thread to share it on.

I hope everyone will just rock on! Share what you will! It's up to me to take what I need and leave the rest. But I will not police this awesome community.

The link that proudfootz provided a day or 2 ago is an article from 2012, which discusses the widely relied upon McDonald Triad as a precursor to violence, and it has been relied upon since 1968, there have been studies since that show that may not be the case. Like in 2009 http://search.proquest.com/docview/305177480 <<< this is the study the article discusses and is linked at the bottom of the article https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/witness/201205/homicidal-triad-predictor-violence-or-urban-myth

As for why it's in this thread.... your guess is as good as mine, it seems that almost all threads go off topic LOL

Suggestion....

anyone who would like to talk about all of the aspects of this case combined and think that Avery was framed and evidence was planted, without going off topic in other threads, post in here. There is no set topic here, other than discussing the who, what, where, when, of how he was framed.

I would open a general thread for all to discuss, but I thought we asked once and didn't get one? I might be wrong.

Happy discussing :)

Thought this might be an interesting read...

Some interesting points brought up in the article.

In the 1970s, at the request of a federal oversight agency, ninety forensic laboratories analyzed five different hair samples each. On average for the five samples, the analysts correctly matched the hair to its donor 50, 28, 54, 68, and 56 percent of the time. They might as well have flipped coins.
[4] Defenders of this position don’t deny that a prisoner could be innocent of a specific crime; instead, they challenge the person’s overall innocence, his or her moral worth. As they see it, anyone who gets caught in the dragnet of the law must be a bad egg, already or soon to be guilty of something, so that society is better off keeping such people locked up – due process and DNA be damned. For a thorough debunking of this argument, I strongly recommend Peter Neufeld, Barry Scheck, and Jim Dwyer’s’s Actual Innocence.

Nice! Love this bbm:

"USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin found there was a tendency of Manitowoc and Calumet counties to selectively reprocess a room, a garage or a vehicle — even after that location underwent an extensive evidence search previously.
It became a recurring pattern in the murder cases against Avery and his nephew, Brendan Dassey, that when a follow-up search was ordered, new forensic clues would emerge."

Hahahaha! Yeah cause you always find new stuff in an empty hole...If you just look one last time. ;)
