That cinema looks quite small. I don't know if it's just the photo angles. It must have been terrifying. [emoji20]

Here's a link to photos and a video. His apartment looked nice except all the bomb making crap. How in the heck did he learn how to do that? Crazy

I don't remember what his undergrad degree was, but I'm sure he had many chemistry- and physics-related courses. We know he is intelligent, and I'm sure he spent lots of time online studying this and he may have researched sources in the university library, or past theses or dissertations. He accessed lots of things, IMO, to figure all that, and prolly had a ball doing it. A new kind of "Weird Science." Sicko killer.

Lol. I just started that book too.

I've read it more than a couple of times -- and I've read quite a few of her others. Since she is an ex-cop, it makes her insights even better reading. I have totally enjoyed all of her other books that I have read as well.

I have tried my best to count the theater seats shown in those photos -- my eyes are still crossed... Best I can figure is that the raised stadium seating area is about 20 rows and 10 columns (200 seats), and the front area flat-floor seating (say that one aloud for kicks) numbers around 100. I could not see any seats on the far right or left of the main stadium seats, so if there are any, they would prolly number around 120 both sides combined, but were there side seats?? I think most of us have been to one or more of those 10 or 15 theater multiplex deals, and the separate theaters in them are small. The Batman movie in the Aurora theater was showing that movie in two theaters that night, as we know, and I've seen that in theaters that I have attended.

Back in the "good ol' days," the theaters were often very plush with actual velvet curtains hiding the screen until the previews started, and the same velvet curtains hanging down the side and back walls; fancy, large chandeliers hanging from the high ceilings; a balcony; big, big screens; and deep plush carpets. They often seated 500-600 or so. The "eats" were expensive back then, too.

KUSA – The man convicted of murdering 12 and injuring at least 70 inside an Aurora movie theater is currently being held in isolation at the Colorado State Penitentiary in Canon City.

The Colorado Department of Corrections quietly transferred James Holmes to the maximum security prison earlier in September.

Multiple sources tell 9Wants to Know Holmes is being held in an area of the prison that does not allow him direct contact with other prisoners. In addition, the state has yet to put his name or mugshot on the Department of Correction's website, as is customary for other prisoners.

Thanks, kai, for the info! I have been checking the Colorado Prison Offender Search site every other day or so to see where he was sent and to post his mugshot here, etc., and as you posted, his info does not come up when I search by his name or by only his last name. Interesting. "They" are really keeping this on the down-low for whatever reason... He's so special, I guess.

If this is about Anne Rule--she recently passed. I always enjoyed her books and writing.

What was that flashing detonator looking thing right in front of the door?

Not sure but looking at those pictures and everything that went into it---I get why they choose "not insane"---someone had to think to conduct that much evilness in bombs....

Hand written love letters written to JH by women in awe of him. He's not even in maximum security. After a few months after being evaluated he will go to his perm prison and then will be allowed visitor.

So many lonely sick desperate women in the world. Care more about the killer then the dead and wounded. They must have no or low self esteem.

My mother-in-law and her husband are both sheriff's deputies and my mother-in-law was the school resource officer at a school that had a school shooting. It effected her very much and I'm glad they had the first responders present victim impact statements at the Holmes trial along with the shooting victims. Too often they are overlooked as victims in these events-- and they are, these incidents will stick with them for life.

The shooting at my MIL's school ended up with the boy shooting at his teacher [thankfully, missing], then shooting himself in the head in the bathroom. My MIL found him, and because she was the SRO and DARE officer for the school, she knew him relatively well. It was quite traumatic for her from what I understand. She was never mentioned in the media but helped get the kid transported to the hospital [he didn't die right away], made sure the school wasn't in further danger and tried to have changes made in the handling of school shootings. She ended up leaving her position in the schools after that and worked as a supervisor in other positions until she retired last year. I am very proud of my inlaws [and my MIL in particular] for what they do. They are extremely humble about these experiences as well. They are always the ones rushing to a scene when others are fleeing.

My mother-in-law [who is an AWESOME grandma to my two boys, as well, btw!] is still a reserve deputy but that incident was awful. Just like these officers were traumatized by the incident, she was but even moreso because she had a personal connection to the shooter. We don't give our LEOs enough respect and opportunity to heal in most of these cases. In my MILs experience there was no trial so she never got that chance after the boy died. We need to do more for both LEOs and our Armed Forces [active and vets] when it comes to counseling, mental health care and respecting their insights on how to improve the status quo...

The shooting that I referred to where my MIL was the first and only officer on scene as it occurred. She's not mentioned by name but she is the one who found the boy in the bathroom;

Colorado prison officials confirm inmate assault on James Holmes in prison
The Colorado Department of Corrections has confirmed that an inmate assaulted theater shooter James Holmes and a security officer in the highest security prison in the state.

Holmes was not injured, officials say.
(...)
"Daniels and Holmes are both housed at CSP. The incident occurred during an offender movement," Jacobson said Daniels lunged at Holmes, took a few swings at him a few times. "It was in passing," Jacobson said.

Holmes was in a Management Control Unit, where he is allowed to spend four hours in a day hall. Currently there are no other inmates in his cellblock.

Reading the article about the assault was the first time I'd heard about which prison he was placed in & about the protective custody (even though I assumed he'd be placed there for a while to start off anyway). I must have missed this but I'll admit I haven't read much post-sentencing coverage either.
