SHARP COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - A trial date has been set for a former Hardy police chief accused of sexually assaulting a child.
The trial of Scott Rose is expected to begin April 13, 2026, with a motion and plea date set for March 23.
Sharp County sheriff’s deputies arrested Rose in June on suspicion of sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child following what the sheriff’s office called a “coordinated, multi-agency investigation.”
The probable cause affidavit said the victim disclosed a “long-term pattern of grooming and sexual boundary violations by Rose” during a May forensic interview.
The victim said Rose invited them to search for a missing woman on Feb. 14. During the outing, Rose purchased multiple alcoholic lemonades for the victim and was seen consuming the drinks himself.
The victim said Rose took them to an isolated location and repeatedly touched and kissed them, despite saying “no” to him multiple times.
The victim further disclosed that Rose touched them inappropriately on other occasions.
The victim said Rose showed them sexually inappropriate photos, and often asked the victim for pictures and complimented their appearance.
Rose is charged with the following:
- Second-degree sexual assault
- Sexual indecency with a minor
- Knowingly furnishing alcohol to a minor
- First-degree endangering the welfare of a minor
