JB has to be regretting his involvement with TB and friends. I wonder if he's even met the guy(s) face to face.
Naw. JB isn't regretting anything.

Actually Tim Chinaris is a very well respected atty who chaired the Ethics commitee of the Fla Bar for years.

Thanks for this info, Drivenon. This fact is likely why Jose hired him and also why the Florida Bar dropped the complaint after Chinaris vouched for him. I'll bet that Chinaris did not know the facts and took Jose's word for the arrangements TB has with this "family from Connecticut."

"Will the real Todd Black please stand up?"

By the way, what was the name of that show?

Are there really sworn statements given to legal authorities, signed by Black? I've only been reading about press releases. If so, then JB was using Black in a role beyond spokesman/PR.

I don't have time to find it right now, but I believe somewhere there is one that said T. Black signed a letter to the Bar or someone else which was a "sworn statement". If I am mistaken, I will apologize and take my lumps. LOL

I googled it, and I came up with an article that says T. Black issued a sworn statement to the Bar before the Bar dropped a complaint against Baez. Because Black didn't use his real name (Cabot?) on that statement, the bar didn't know he had been convicted of a felony in the past, and they may have taken that into consideration before deciding on Baez.

Shuckydarn...so Fake T. Black didn't sign anything legally. Well...there goes that idea.

Since the Florida Bar used a sworn statement from Black before dismissing a complaint against Baez, WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said, with the new information, the Bar could re-open its investigation.

"The person who signed the sworn affidavit is a convicted felon and it appears steps were taken to conceal that," Sheaffer said.

I dunno if Sheaffer is correct about sworn statements though. I hope so.

drivenon said in a previous post that this statement was not sworn by its author. What does that mean? drivenon said it was signed by Pete Tillman.

Why would the FL Bar accept 'exhibit D' without a notarized signature? Is this because 'press corps media' is based in another country (Canada) and therefore 'exempt' from needing this?

I'm not an attorney (obviously) But a long time ago in a galaxy far far...... I worked for the State of FL. A majority of my duty time was spent looking closely at 'documents', and I notarized many of them daily.

(I noted post early on stated that in LA the notary rules there, in addition, in FL you have to actually state how the person signing the 'document' is known to said notary. ie: personally known or drivers license presented and the DL# or type of ID. And I usually would make a copy of the signee's ID, just for back up!)

Thanks for the info.

SS, I am a Notary in the State of Louisiana. I require picture ID to be shown when I notorize a paper. Our Louisiana Driver's License has our signature along with the picture. For those who do not drive, Louisiana has a personal ID that you can acquire at the DMV that has a picture and a signature also. I will not notorize anything without proper ID. Also, the person wanting a document notorized must bring two witnesses who attest to knowing this person with them. Two witnesses have to sign the document.

Also, I do not read the document I am notorizing for content. I only notorize the signing of the document. IF that person is using an alias with the proper identification and I have no way of knowing this, then I have no liability in notorizing the document. People who want to acquire a driver's license with an alias can always use a stolen identity to do so. As a driver's license is a state issued proper identification, I accept it in good faith that this is the person signing the document.

Sorry, wanted to reference your notary rules in my original post, above. Also in FL we did not require the two witnesses. Or any for that matter.
