Dole, 97, said he'd begin treatment next week.

Bob Dole, the former longtime Kansas senator and 1996 Republican presidential nominee, said Thursday that he has stage 4 lung cancer.

“Recently, I was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. My first treatment will begin on Monday,” Dole, 97, said in a statement.

“While I certainly have some hurdles ahead, I also know that I join millions of Americans who face significant health challenges of their own,” Dole added...

Ah, jeez. That’s awful news. He’ll be in my prayers for sure, and I wish him the absolute very best.

Mr. Dole passed away in 12/2021. RIP

I’m sad to hear this. My Mom died of lung cancer and had been diagnosed at stage 4. They gave her 11 weeks to live without treatment and less than 5 years with treatment. She passed away about 18 months after diagnosis. Definitely hard to watch and very hard on her. Bless Mr. Dole’s loved ones.
