I'd love to know if they are making progress on the Bieker guy or if he was a dead end.
State v Bieker
In Jan '25, Bieker requested an appeal. Thankfully it was not successful. Lindsey Baum was mentioned in his request for an appeal.
[...] media reports about his June 2021 arrest included statements from law enforcement that they were looking into possible connections to the Baum case. As for the first Crudup factor, Bieker characterizes the reports as “unquestionably inflammatory.”
[...] Similarly, although an officer stated in a “Cop Talk” radio interview that they were investigating a possible connection to the Baum case, Bieker does not dispute that the officer also stated, “[T]here is no evidence connecting Mr. Bieker to Lindsey Baum.”
[...] And as for the Cop Talk interview, the State presented evidence that “the audio of that program was never made available to the public for streaming on . . . any . . . platform” and that the original live stream garnered only “25 listens.”
Bieker asserts that “it is reasonable to presume there were prospective jurors who wanted to be part of the trial and not share the necessary information,” that there was a “real probability that [jurors] recalled [the Baum case] as [Bieker’s] case carried on through testimony” even if they did not recall it during jury selection, and that it “is inevitable” that jurors were exposed to people wearing Lindsey Baum T-shirts at trial.
That document was eye-opening. I get the feeling Bieker initially planned to kill his victim, but something changed his mind.
A.E. said that the man got out of the car but came back after a few minutes. A.E. didn’t move,” hoping “he thinks [she is] dead.” The man then cut the zip ties off her wrists and told A.E. that he “hoped [she] was dead, but if [she] wasn’t, within24 hours, [her] house would be burned down and [her] dad would be shot, and the rest of [her] life would be miserable.” He then told her he would “always be watching” her, shut the car door, and left.
Something happened at that second location, when he stepped out for a few minutes leaving A.E. in her car. Maybe there were people nearby? I don't know what changed his mind, but it meant A.E. survived. If he IS responsible for Lindsey's disappearance, corrected that "mistake"
Interesting to read that Bieker was familiar with personal details. He knew the victim worked at a coffee stand and that she lived with her father. Judging by the time Bieker took during the attack to cover her mouth and eyes with duct tape, plus the time it took tying her arms and legs with zip ties, it's fair to assume he also knew her father was not home at the time of the attack.
So was he stalking her? Could he have been stalking Lindsey too?
I ask because during Melissa's interview with Crime Watch Daily, she claims that two strange incidents happened the week before her daughter went missing.
One incident occurred when Lindsey and her friend entered a public bathroom at a nearby park, when suddenly a man appeared to follow them inside. He ended up taking off on his bike.
The other incident was when Lindsey told her that both her and a friend were being followed by a man in a white car. How long might that been going on for? Did either incident involve Bieker?
Could any of this have anything to do with a post Lindsey made on her Myspace account on May 29th?
"i've been getting a lot of nightmares latley and i have this bad feeling that something bads gonna happen"
In reading the appeal, it appears that the kidnapping charge was dismissed. Bieker was only convicted of the rape. And still he still wont accept responsibility. Accusing the victim of lying, that the encounter was consensual and also kinky (that last part, likely his lame attempt to explain the restraints).
If he wont admit to SA, I can't picture him confessing to a homicide.
I believe detectives are still working diligently on this case. At least I hope as much.
