An article that describes how KM contacted the Cortes family to offer their condolences. It talks about the account they opened ("like the McCanns") in order to collect money to help with their search.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/li...ews.html?in_article_id=509685&in_page_id=1811

This article talks about how "The McCanns have offered to put pictures of Mari Luz's face alongside Madeleine's on posters in Spain, Portugal and north Africa."

And how the Cortes' "are thought to be searching for a wealthy donor to back their idea. An appeal fund set up shortly after their daughter went missing has just £300 in it."

Not one reference to the McCann's offering financial support.

Seems obvious to me that there has not been any type of contribution from the fund to help the Cortes family. If there had been it would be all over the press.

Unless you consider the sharing of poster space a generous offer. Or maybe the £300 was donated by the McCanns.....

This is what I was complaining about on another thread. Daffodil, perhaps you could show us the article that talks about how they have offered financial support.

Madeleine’s fund is a non charitable not-for-profit company, which has been established to help find Madeleine McCann and to support her family and bring her abductors to justice. Any surplus funds will be used to help families and missing children in the United Kingdom, Portugal and elsewhere in similar circumstances. If there are surplus funds Madeleine’s Funds can be converted into a charity.
The Fund is following best practice governance procedures as set out in the Good Governance Code for the Voluntary and Community Sector. The directors of the company are Peter Hubner, Brian Kennedy, John McCann, Michael Linnett, Edward Smethurst , Doug Skehan and Jon Corner. They have appropriate legal, business and charitable experience. An experienced Fund Administrator has been appointed to ensure the highest standards of transparency and accountability. This should enable the Directors to maintain an appropriate governance distance in the day-to-day operations of the Fund.
The Board and its individual Directors will ensure that the Fund is subject to required financial legal scrutiny. They will ensure that they receive reliable external advice and information, as the basis for making good decisions.
Fund Objectives

1.1 The full objects of the Fund are:
1.1.1 To secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann who was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday 3rd May 2007;
1.1.2 To procure that Madeleine’s abduction is thoroughly investigated and that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice; and
1.1.3 To provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine’s family.
1.2 If the above objects are fulfilled then the objects of the Foundation shall be to pursue such purposes in similar cases arising in the United Kingdom, Portugal or elsewhere.

Here you Have it folks, "THE FUND" will help other missing children when Madeleine has been found, and financial assistants have been made to her family...not until then. The bold print is mine.

You will notice, the McCanns can use the fund for financial assistance...and only when all the objects are fulfilled, the excess will be given away. HA!

Thanks for that info Interestedwoman. Pathethic huh? :( But true. Since the Mc Canns know they will not find Maddie, this fund is going to be open forever. :furious:

Daffodil,

If you look back at that "complaining" sentence you will note that it ends with a period. It was simply a statement, it was not directed at you. It was directed at the whole thread, the whole forum.

I was hoping you did have some information that showed something other than the apparent lack of generosity exhibited by the McCanns. But, I knew in my heart that there probably was none.

I am silent because I dont recall having read anything about that .Do you have a link please so I can read it for myself? TIA

I am sorry if you misunderstood my response, I also misunderstood your post because it does not clarify that you had not read anything to the contrary.

By the time they pay for their PR and Metodo, there will never be any "surplus funds." End of story.

Exactly. The objectives:
Find Maddie
Convict who did it
Support the family

When all objectives are fulfilled, then they will give it to charity...

If Maddie is never found, if the abductor is never found, the McCanns still get to support themselves because its part of the objective...As long as they need financial assistance, the money goes to them.

It would be funny if the PLE finds positive proof they were involved, and according to the objectives, the fund could be used to prosecute THEM!!!

The interesting point is not that the McCanns are not directing the fund to pay for any publicity for the other missing child. That is almost a rational decision.

The key point is that this is a big change from previous statements of the McCanns, who in the very beginning, presented their efforts as being for "all missing children." The implication was from the very start that they would not be focusing solely on Madeleine, as Kate said:

"There are so many missing children out there, abducted children and sexually-exploited children," she said.

"Once you know all that you can't turn a blind eye to it. Madeleine is our priority but we have to help. We can't just ignore those other children.

"Whatever comes out of our experience,
anything that can make the tiniest bit of difference to make the world safer place is going to be a good thing. I feel a moral obligation.

"Madeleine means so much to me, but you can't take it away from the bigger picture."
