HERAULT: THE ALLEGED KILLER HAS CONFESSED THE FACTS

NewsRepublic

Eric B., who is suspected of stabbing a nursing aide at the Montferrier-sur-Lez (Hérault) nursing home on Thursday night, reportedly admitted to the facts during his detention, according to M6. He would not, however, have explained the reasons for his actions.

The former soldier, 47 years of age, had been employed as a maintenance man in the nursing home a decade ago and knew his victim. But no personal motive would have led to his act.

Eric B was recognized by a young man from his neighborhood, and was arrested on Friday night near his home in Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers, where he lives with his wife and two children, aged 11 and 20. Living on small jobs, he is described as a man without a great social life and with a passion for video games and paintball. According to one of his friends, he had tried to commit suicide in the past.

HÉRAULT: HOLD UP GONE WRONG

LeParisien
http://www.leparisien.fr/faits-dive...ate-27-11-2016-6381954.php#xtor=AD-1481423554

The alleged killer of the 54-year-old medical aid worker, murdered on Thursday night around 9:30 pm at the retirement home of African missionaries of Baillarguet in Montferrier-sur-Lez (Hérault), attempted a holdup, according to local sources of e-metropolitain.fr.

This 47-year-old soldier who had been employed ten years ago in the retirement home as a technical handyman, knew both the place and the victim.

When he broke into the nursing home, he was masked, dressed in black, armed with a rifle (which turned out to be a dummy) and a knife. The former soldier intended to force the employees on night shift to open the safe. Things allegedly went wrong. The care workers did not have the secret code of the safe and they would have recognized him.

According to the site e-metropolitain.fr, the investigators were able make a link with a burglary committed fifteen days earlier in this same retirement home.
The 40-year-old man will be brought before the investigating judge of the higher court of Montpellier this Sunday to be charged with assassination and attempted assassination.

It is a weird feeling but I am actually relieved that the elderly missionaries were not the intended target, for under different circumstances they might have been and it would all have been far too easy....
