A six-year-old girl, Célya, have been kidnapped by her mother's partner after he had attacked the mother. Célya is 1.10 metre tall, has mid-length dark-brown hair and brown eyes.

Unfortunately, the child has been found dead. Her mother had been stabbed by her partner.

No, he's on the run. Célya was found dead near the suspects car. According to the article below it seems as the child had also been stabbed at the same time as her mother.

The man who kidnapped little Célya have been arrested at 6 a.m. this morning (July 13). It seems as it began as a case of excessive drug use (cocaine) on the day, as he was not known for any acts of violence, nor any complaints of domestic violence against his partner, or the child.
(There are two English translations of the French "beau-père", either "father-in-law" or "stepfather", in the article below it's the second meaning.

Here's an article about the French kidnapping alert system which was created in 2006. It has been launched 33 times, and this was the second time where the abducted child has been found dead. The first case was in 2020, when a non-custodian mother killed her one-year-old daughter.

From an article of 4 October 2024, the stepfather has been charged with murder of a person under the age of 15, and attempted murder of a spouse. He was at the time remanded in custody at a hospital due to disturbances, and "delusionsl" thought. It's the latest info I have found.
Link is to a translation in English of the article.

The links that I post below isn't just about Célya, but I found them when searching her name. It's about the 46 young children who was murdered in 2024 by adult violence. It's a podcast by Radio France (a national public broadcaster) from 3 February 2025, but there is text below on the page. The podcast is about newspapers wanting to break the silence about infanticide in France, Mediapart is one, but also other newspapers are mentioned.

Mediapart, an independent nonprofit investigative online newspaper, has published articles about murdered children, and Célya is one of those named on the page. The articles are locked, you have to subscribe to Mediapart if you want to read them, but it seems as the newspaper is published in French, English, and Spanish.
