Bumping for Fiona!

Summary of what I've read in recent days about this case. Many article's can be found by Googling "Fiona + Clermont".
Recently, Cecile again went in front of a judge to discuss her commitment to finding Fiona's body. Cecile was reported to be fully committed to the search to recover her daughter's body.

With Cecile directing, today they again searched in an area between the two lakes where searches were previous done. But, they were unsuccessful.

RE: the boyfriend - I read articles that made it sound as though he was detoxing and that LE thought he needed a little time to enjoy his new surroundings [] so that he might be able to better remember where he buried the body.

Again, all just my translation, interpretation and summary of some main points from many articles I read.

Summary:

 • Today, BM went before a judge in Clermont-Ferrand
 • BM now wants to be transparent, regardless of the consequences to Cecile.
 • According to BM’s attorney, Cecile’s declarations get us further from the truth and BM wants to refocus things. It will not be for the sake of absolute protection of Cecile.
 • BM accuses Cecile of violence against Fiona which he says happened the night before Fiona died, but was not the cause of Fiona’s death.
 • Known addict, BM, 32, has already been convicted of violence and drug usage.

 • While BM acknowledges that Fiona was struck in the days before her death, BM has always vehemently denied being the perpetrator of those strikes.

I just spent ages trying to work out if an update here http://translate.google.co.uk/trans...=/search?q=fiona+clermont&client=safari&hl=en
really meant they've turned on each other. I should have checked here first.

This is really bad news for Fiona. They're both so concerned with saving themselves and blaming each other, neither can say where she is now even if they do remember - they'll just make themselves seem even bigger liars than they have been already.

Fiona was supposedly buried with a shovel? I wonder if police recovered it? There are a few, special people who might be able to give them a good idea of the nearby plants and land appearance of Fiona's burial place, if there are soil samples.

If they did actually bury her, and didn't just dump her in the lake.

Something horrible I noticed on one of the pages at the translated link above; Fiona was buried naked. Why would they have undressed her? Or was she already naked when she died? I am really wondering what kind of party took place at the home now.

RE: Fiona buried naked - Articles I've read have only stated that Fiona's nude body was placed in the leather bag. Nothing mentioned about Fiona's clothes. Nothing mentioned about shovel recovery that I remember. Good point about soil analysis for identification of location of body, if buried and with that shovel.

RE: Cecile and BM turning on each other - Hopefully we'll hear some truth as a result; sweet little Fiona will be found and given a proper burial; and, the perps will both face hell thereafter. JMO

Thank you so much . Pointing fingers begins. He did bury her with a shovel but doesn't know where? Poor baby girl. Why didn't anyone give two cents worth of concern for this precious angel ? :(

My DH has a favorite saying and its' a bit vulgar but I'll share it because it is made for these 2 . " F*** what YOU"RE going through". Meaning just because you're going through a rough time doesn't mean you get to do what ever you want .
At least they are locked up and at least they are talking. We're far closer than we were last month!

Summary, new info:

 • According to BM’s attorney: Fiona made herself vomit to imitate her pregnant mother. That irritated Cecile who didn’t put up with it and gave Fiona a few hits/blows to the back and to the head. But, BM assures that that episode was not the cause of Fiona’s death.
 • Investigators have had difficulty understanding how the couple could have buried the body because they didn’t have/own a shovel. BM’s version: While Cecile was driving en route, Cecile saw a shovel, stopped and seized it. They continued on and found an isolated place. He started to dig a hole when the shovel broke in two. He finished digging using the metal part and with his hands. Then they got rid of the broken shovel parts near the place where Fiona was buried.
 • LE have looked for evidence of the shovel in the Aydat area and have asked locals if anyone was missing a shovel around last May. No one has responded that one was missing.
 • BM maintained that he could not indicate the exact location of the burial. He begs Cecile to tell LE where they can find Fiona. According to BM, Cecile is capable of returning to that place.
 • Faced with all these contradictions and inconsistencies, the judge instructed that a face-to-face be organized in the coming days between the two principal accused.
 • As of now, no new search for the body has been scheduled.

Thanks again.
A face to face between the two, eh? Surely that will be recording and
video'd !

I hope police have checked any CCTV of any Bricolage (DIY) stores near the apartment, for Cecile or Berkane purchasing a shovel. There are three near to the park. Here is the nearest one:

http://www.leroymerlin.fr/v3/p/magasins/clermont-ferrand-l1308219684

Do we have a street for their apartment, to see which stores may be close?

I think the chances of them finding a shovel on a street, exactly when they needed one, are ZERO.

Lies lies lies lies and more lies, imo. Le Fin. The end.

Can they try it track their movements during that time from their cell phone records?

Yes - good point!

I believe I read that LE did just that and pings do place them near those lakes during the time LE believe Fiona was buried. However, pings are to cell towers so they can establish a radius around cell towers which still is a large area/s to search, if I understand it all correctly.

I haven't read this thread for a while - the last time I read it Fiona was listed as missing. Could someone please let me know the page where it was revealed that she isn't alive?

Poor Fiona. :(

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. No surprise that her mother and step father are involved.

Welcome back Fruity.
Things are moving slow but at least there is an arrest .
At least little Fi's status is know, although it's not what we hoped for.
She will be found. Someone will pay.
I fear they may be a little ' softer' on crime in France than the US though.
I'm preparing myself to be disappointed with the outcome.

Re: little E and infant B

 • Neither Fiona's biological father nor Cecile's parents of have been given guardianship of the two remaining children.
 • Decision made by judge.
 • The children have been entrusted to “ASE (Aide Sociale à l'Enfance)”, social aide service for children of Perpignan and for a period of six months.
 • The father of little E and Fiona will have the right to visit.
 • Cecile’s parents will also have the right to visit the children.
 • The body of little Fiona, missing since last May, still has not been found.

Thanks Quester. My heart drops each time Fiona's thread appears. I want her to be found but it's going to be such a sad day.

To be honest, the custody decision is what I hoped for. I am not trying to be unkind to biological papa by this, because he is a victim here too and his child has been murdered but is still missing. Substance abuse has figured a lot in this case though, and I think it is best authorities ensure little E is not exposed to that kind of risky behaviour again. Time is needed to make a proper assessment, I think.

I never thought, with the risk of Cecile and her 'bad dating decisions' returning in as little as four months, that her mom's house was a good place for the little one to be.

It seems inevitable little E and her new baby sibling will be separated eventually, unless Cecile and Berkane do the right thing and allow the children to stay together. I don't think they will. :(

Hmmm. Any word on searches? I wish I understood more of how french LE works .
In the US with 2 parties in jail and a missing baby, they can manipulate them against each other until one talks. That is how baby Elaina was found finally. No word on who killed her but at least she is found. I would hope something similar could happen with these 2. Seems the Bertrane did a bit of talking but not enough to find her.
