GUILTY France - Fiona Chafoulais, 5, Clermont-Ferrand, 12 May 2013 *Arrest*

  • #421
Oh, thanks Schmae. I really hope there's a break in the case. I don't want to seem morbid but I really want little Fiona to have a beautiful, properly marked final resting place like only the French can do. Not just for her, but for her siblings too - somewhere they can feel close to her, when they are older.

Ok now I've asked my cousins' wife as well if she speaks French. She studied many languages so surely one is french because my friend from France is still not online.

Sorry Zwie , I cannot click it. I'm just overwhelmed of late with some of these cases and my biggest fear is really clicking another that I cannot get off of my mind.
One of my many months long cases is becoming so sad I cannot bear it.
And little Fiona, why can't she be found? Why do adults have to ruin lives .......
it's so backwards compared to many years ago. yes I know people have always killed children, but it seems 30 yrs ago children were cherished far more than today. Today they are an inconvenience, a nuisance, annoyance, a child support check, a punching bag...... It's so upsetting.

For SCHMAE :grouphug:

Take heart SCHMAE - there is still hope she will be found and those things called 'parents' will have Justice served upon them.
Yes, little Fi has touched our hearts in a big BIG way.

There are those fabulous mothers in France who didn't let Fiona be forgotten.
If you gave them all a spade, they would dig up France to find her.

You need to be found little one.
Wont be long.

But this picture Fig? How could anyone hurt that face? This picture just says so much to me. It says Fiona is curious, possibly a little rebellious and sassy,( as lots of kids are ) smart, inquisitive, wanting to know what the world is about. When this picture was taken, she was alive and FULL of life and the wonders of the planet and someone , maybe her mother, captured all of this in this one little photo. This was a LIFE worth living, a life that would impact the world and those around her. Fiona had ZEST and promise. It's just not fair :(

In my opinion, this pair at the link could do it.

It's all in French and I can't make much of it at the moment without help, but it looks like Cecile and Berkane have had their face to face today, they have both been evasive and blamed each other, their lawyers have made excuses for them and basically......they have not helped one iota to bring Fiona home.

Total disrespect to our little petite chou, in my opinion. And the people of Clermont Ferrand who tried so hard to find her and be fair to this couple. This is the very last chance they have to do anything for Fiona, and they are still not doing it. They have already admitted she is dead and they buried her - why will they not let people bring her home?? It just does not wash with me that you can bury a child (especially your own!) and not remember where.

I will try and summarize the article when I've calmed down.

ETA, forgot the link

At the court in Clermont Ferrand the couple continued to blame each other but the confrontation shed no new light on Fiona's death or whereabouts. There was general disappointment at the end after the FIVE HOUR interrogation at the court. It's the first time Berkane and Cecile have been questioned together.

They were BOTH being interrogated for 'aggravated deathly blows' (I guess that means manslaughter?)

Each didn't deviate from their statements accusing the other, according to Cecile Bourgeon's lawyer, M. Portejois.

"My client repeated that Berkane was responsible for the blows on the Tuesday and Saturday before her (Fiona's) death. Berkane maintains that Cecile hit Fiona the night before her death, while denying that could have been the cause of the child's death."

M Khanifar, lawyer for Berkane, said he judges the 'tone' of Cecile's declarations. " Cecile is a lot less certain, she's more evasive. My client maintains that Fiona died through asphyxiation."

This is stated in the article to be suffocation provoked by Fiona ingesting a drug substitute (methadone?) kept in the flat of the addicted couple. (My note. This is the first time I have seen this theory. I thought Berkane had maintained Fiona choked on vomit after trying to copy Mom's morning sickness?)

The interrogation did not help either of the pair remember exactly where they buried Fiona, which they have said is somewhere in a forest near the Lake of Aydat, about 30km from Clermont Ferrand.

"They are not tryingto hide anything, there is a real difficulty on their part to remember places precisely. We won't be able to recommence searching.", Berkane's lawyer said.

Cecile has already been back there twice, and has now suggested that she be hynotized, but her lawyer says the technique is not valid/covered by French law. (My note. I don't see what the law has to do with it, or why that should prevent her being hypnotized. If she remembers anything, a SAR team can go check. It doesn't need a court order to conduct a search.)

At the end, the journalist adds all the reasons why Fiona's case can only get more complicated; no body, no autopsy, no cause of death.

I dunno why the fact this horrible pair have admitted they buried Fiona seems to be virtually discounted in the article. I would have thought a confession like that would be a DA's dream in the US.

Tks Z!

"They are not tryingto hide anything, there is a real difficulty on their part to remember places precisely. We won't be able to recommence searching.", Berkane's lawyer said.
Does the attorney get to decide whether or not LE does more searching ?
Also could the several variations on cause of death by why they now have decided to NOT remember where she is? Making a prosecution much more difficult with no cause of death and ( they hope) no body found ?

I dont know how those monsters cecile and berkane could do anything to hurt her, and every word you say is true. That picture says so many things - and the caption that was first place with that photo was 'find me'. It breaks my heart. She needs to be found.
The picture which hits me with full force is the one with the flower - Fiona in her pink parker, smiling with wonder.

After I read the report from zwiebel (thanks zwieb) of how the court date went I am seething. Why will they not continue the search. Why are they not using dogs, and anything and everything to find this precious child's body.
Someone must have seen something of those monsters movements. It would take one independent witness or CCTV footage to place them in or out of the area.
And I too cant believe that they cant remember - they are covering their a$$es. Cowards and Murderers.
Its a disgrace.

Don't they do lie detector tests in France?
I wonder how the French public are taking this news.

Don't take my word for it, but I don't believe they do. They are really into handwriting analysis though -almost every job application has to be handwritten so it can be analysed. I suspect they've already done that with C and B, though I haven't ready anything.

Seeing some of the collage images that are popping up of them now, I'd say the French are very, very displeased. I don't believe they are being truthful about not knowing Fiona's whereabouts, and it's a tragedy searches have been stopped.

Loads of hunters/outdoor people around there, so I suspect the locals may organise some public searches. I hope so.

Just did a random search and saw this. I'm not sure if it's been shown before or not. You'd think I would know all on this thread but I must admit I sometimes do not click links and just read below what you've said .......sorry.
Some new pics in this video .

Disturbed this morning. The mcstay family that no one even knew was dead has now been found and little Fiona , that everyone knows is dead, cannot be found while the murderer is IN CUSTODY no amount of compelling by the LE can force them to speak.

Hugs to little FI ! I'm sorry sweetheart. We will find you soon!

I know Schmae. It's just an upsidedown world, isn't it?

But take heart - the McStay little ones have been missing since 2010, with police apparently thinking the whole family might have been on the beach in Mexico. But some trail rider on a motorbike, not even looking for them, has just found them. I think there will be lots of French people travelling through that nature area now, and they will be looking for out for Fiona. I believe there is a very good chance she will be found.

If I recall correctly, the hunting season will have begun now. I'll try and look up the region of CF, to see whereabouts they might be. I hope police have asked them to keep a lookout, though to be honest, I don't think locals will need reminding.

I'm still hoping Berkane might crack and tell though. He's not coping very well, if you ask me. If he does confide anything to other prisoners, I'm sure they'll report it. Trouble is, it doesn't seem he is making any friends.

Come home baby girl !

They have quoted a newspaper article on the FB page for bio Dad, but not linked it and I can't find the original. Anyway, THEIR copy only, which I can't verify, says Cecile has been transfered to a special hospital prison in Lyon.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Soutiens-à-Nicolas-Chafoulais-père-de-Fiona/1386632968237212

Lyon is one of the most beautiful towns in France, with wonderful food and architecture and where a poll found most French people would chose to live if they could live anywhere.

That doesn't mean the prisons are much better there of course, but I am guessing a hospital prison is a much, much nicer option than normal prison.

Cecile's maladies may well be genuine, but I can't help feeling- after her performances at the early press conferences - that if she had become an actress rather than a mother and a drug addict, she'd be one of France's leading performers by now.

Where is little FI?
Tell the police where she is !
This baby needs to be home by Christmas.
This is outrageous and sickening and sinful in the most grievous way possible.
Isn't it bad enough she's gone ? That part has been spilled so there 's no
benefit to keeping her hidden.
Come home little doll!
