Nordahl Lelandais sentenced on appeal to a year's imprisonment for sexually assaulting his second cousin.
The sentence is identical to that handed down at first instance in early 2024. Nordahl Lelandais was sentenced on appeal to one year's imprisonment for the sexual assault of a minor grand-cousin in 2017, this Wednesday 26 March 2025. This decision confirms ‘in all its aspects’ the judgement of the court of first instance, according to the statement of the Court of Appeal in Reims (Marne) in its judgement.

Nordahl Lelandais will face trial again on 28 August. Sentenced to life imprisonment since 2022 for the murders of Corporal Noyer and little Maëlys, the 42-year-old former soldier will stand trial for domestic violence during a visit in front of his 19-month-old son. The events took place on 9 June at the Ensisheim prison (Haut-Rhin).
On Friday 11 July, Nordahl Lelandais appeared before the Colmar Criminal Court, charged with ‘violence not resulting in total incapacity to work in the presence of a minor, by a person who is his spouse or cohabitee’, a repeat offence. He requested a postponement to prepare his defence.
According to the Dernières nouvelles d'Alsace newspaper, during a visit of the child's mother with her 19-month-old son, who was conceived in custody, by her side, the former dog handler allegedly grabbed her firmly by the neck, then pulled her hair, pulling her head and torso to one side. The scene unfolded in front of the guards and the cameras. At the immediate court hearing, the background to the incident was not discussed. His partner, who was not present at the hearing, did not bring a civil action.
"I feel like I've been judged today. My partner and my son, who asks to speak to me on the phone every day, need me. The visiting rooms have been suspended for the time being, and I think that banning all means of communication would be very unfortunate for them", pleaded Nordahl Lelandais, who disputes the facts.
Despite his requests, he has been banned from making contact with his partner and son, including in the visiting room or by telephone, until the trial on 28 August.
‘These acts of violence, committed in front of a very young boy, appear to be particularly serious’, the Colmar public prosecutor Jean Richert indicated. 'The danger posed by this person is staggering: despite his lengthy convictions, the confining nature of the prison and the supervision of prison officers, he manages to carry out such acts. “The magistrate also referred to 'a woman who is a victim of his controlling influence, and a child who is a victim of having to grow up with an appalling parental figure.”
The couple's child is represented by the association Themis, which has been appointed as ad hoc administrator. 'I am particularly concerned for the couple's joint child,' said the couple's lawyer, Julien Demarche.
‘The challenge is to make a distinction, against all odds, between this man's past and the facts that will be submitted to the court’, argued Pascale Muckensturm-Fleith for the defence. "As far as the little boy is concerned, a juvenile court judge has been appointed and will probably intervene in the next few days to protect him as best as possible.
