Quick note -- "Philippine" is the victim's name, not her ethnicity (not that this matters). She was born in Clamart, and the family apparently has ties to nobility going a long way back.

Awful story, sure to inflame tensions at an already tense time.

thanks for the clarification. You are right. Some follow up shows the Swiss did turn him over the France where he awaits trial. The political fallout is interesting. The case had been badly mismanaged but there seems to be little actual reform. The only change I see was the request to extend admin detention to 210 days prior to removal but even that hasn't been approved.
