The picture is the car they left in.
I Google translated this article:
ALPHEN AAN DEN RIJN - 'It seems like they left confused. My grandfather didn't bring his medication, they didn't ask the neighbours for the plants and now we haven't been able to get in touch for days, while my grandmother normally calls us all day.'

From the article

"The French police are calling on residents and tourists to look out for the white Peugeot 2008 with Dutch license plate KL-476-H, possibly with damage to the front. It is expected that license plates have been swapped. Anyone with information about the disappearance of Paul and Gerda Klapper is urgently requested to contact the French gendarmerie, or in the Netherlands the police via the national information number"

From the above link.

Dutch police have stated there is currently 'no indication that a crime has been committed'. Which is strange as it's previously been stated that the car plates may have been swapped. Why would the plates be swapped?

It states the couple were heading to the 'village of Planchez in the Morvan region of Burgundy, where they have had a second home for 25 years. They were supposed to meet an estate agent there to sell the house'.

Besides,
Quoting from a post above

About a car

"...possibly with damage to the front..."

Was there a traffic accident?

What a tragedy!
RIP
Condolences to family :(

Do we know where they were found and what about their car?

Quote from the above post

"According to another French newspaper, Le Dauphiné,
the bodies were found near Leurville,
in the Haute-Marne department.

The village is about 200 kilometers from the couple's home.

The white Peugeot was reportedly found in the water there.

The regional French newspaper Le Progres reported earlier Thursday
that Gerda's body was found a few hundred meters away from the car, a white Peugeot.

This has since been confirmed by the authorities.

Paul's body was also found near the car."

:(

It is not yet clear what happened to the couple. The family spokesman speaks of a “fateful confluence of circumstances.” The cause of death is still being investigated, but a crime seems almost certainly ruled out.

Their bodies were found near their car.
Says several hundred meters apart, but this hasn't been confirmed.

The car was first located, before the body of the woman, Gerda Klapper, was discovered a few hundred meters away on Wednesday, the Dutch police announced .

Then that of her husband, further away, was discovered this Thursday. According to our information, their vehicle, a white Peugeot 2008, was found near a watercourse.

The Chaumont Research Brigade (Haute-Marne) has been called in to investigate. Autopsies will be carried out to explain the circumstances of the deaths, but there are no traces of violence.

Does it mean the bodies were found in the water too?

From the article.

Grandfather recently hit the safety barriers with his car here in the Netherlands. The long drive was becoming increasingly difficult.

I wonder if the couple's allegedly strange behaviour
(not notifying anybody about their journey, phones turned off, car plates swapped)
was to avoid their family possibly forcing them to give up driving abroad by themselves.

After all,
recently hitting safety barriers must have been very worrying for the pair's children.
