Freddy Gray Verdict #2. Not Guilty

Thanks alpine. Ya, I know MM was elected. The day the last NG verdict was announced I heard several talking heads calling for her to step down. She obviously didn't listen or care. She doesn't seem like the type to go quietly lol.

Sorry, Blondie in Spokane. In taking your post so literally, did not mean to offend or insult.

Speaking of employment, would anyone in corp world or law practice hire her? Will she be a lifetime pol figure in B'more or MD? IDK.

Someone will. One of Sharpton's race-baiting cronies, probably. Or Crump.

I met a young couple from Baltimore last night at a friend's birthday dinner. I was sitting next to them so I had to ask them about the trial situation and what the locals were thinking. They are a young couple in their late 20's, born and raised on BMore. Husband is a civil attorney, wife is a social worker. Both are very liberal politically, but they felt that the charges were politically motivated by Mosby, for her own personal political gain. They think it is because she wants to run for higher office and wants support from public. And the couple told me that she still has massive local support from those who believe the cops killed Freddie G. Most of the locals think the court system is corrupt and that is why the cops are walking away. So she would likely win a campaign for some kind off political office, according to this local couple, who seem to have some political insight.

John F. Banzhaf III, a public interest law professor at George Washington University, said he intended to mail a full complaint against Mosby to the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission on Wednesday.

He said he believes that there are already grounds for Mosby's disbarment but that his case will be strengthened if Mosby continues to prosecute the officers still facing trial.

Prosecutors dropped one misconduct in office charge against Baltimore police officer Lt. Brian Rice as his trial began Thursday. Rice is one of six officers charged in relation to the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray.
Rice, who was the highest ranked officer charged, still faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, second degree reckless assault, reckless endangerment and a remaining misconduct in office charge for failing to secure Gray with a seat belt inside a police vehicle.

Snipped from a good article:

Many legal experts argue that it is becoming more and more apparent that perhaps an independent prosecutor would have alleviated the acrimony fueled by these trials. That person would conduct an independent investigation and an independent assessment of how to move forward without having to deal with the after effects.

Surprise, surprise. I'm looking forward to hearing about the influx of research dollars from the NIH to study this newly horrifying condition of spontaneous spinal combustion. Who knew it could just happen out of thin air???? Perhaps someone should write a book about Freddie Gray, in the same vein as Henrietta Lacks. A medical mystery, for sure.

Imagine if instead of paying a dead person's family $6million they used it to pay or train their officers. I think about that a lot.

Actually the decision to pay or fight is made by the insurance company. They are the ones paying out. Of course, the premiums are astronomical. :shame::cheers::moo:
