Just watched a maybe 30 minute show about the Freeway Phantom.
The Freeway Phantom is a self imposed nickname for an unidentified killer who was active in Washington, D.C. from April 1971 through September 1972.
He killed 6 young black woman. The youngest being 10 years old.
This case is unsolved.
On his 5th victim he left this note....
"

especiAlly women.

They believe he is military due to the way he wrote. Also was believe at the time he was a young black male.
If you think about around the time of the crimes a black male with a young black female is not out of the norm vs a white male with a young black female.
But... Brenda Faye Crockett the 4th victim reportedly called home not once but twice.
Crockett 10 at the time called home and spoke to her 7 year old sister "A white man picked me up, and I'm heading home in a cab," Crockett told her sister, adding that she believed she was in Virginia before abruptly saying, "Bye" and hanging up.
A short time later, the phone rang again and was this time answered by the stepfather of Crockett. It was Crockett again, and she merely repeated what she'd said in the last telephone call, adding "Did my mother see me?" and indicating she was alone in a house with a white male. Her stepfather asked her to have the man come to the phone. Heavy footsteps were heard in the background and Crockett said "I'll see you" and hung up.
These woman are now just another cold case...is he just as his name suggested, A true Phantom.
No, I don't this this coward is a Phantom, if he was in the military what if he was moved. He was stationed somewhere else? There are plenty of woman found along freeways with the killer unknown.
What if it could be connected?
I can't seemed to find a good site at the moment to show a list of victims found along the highway...I am sure I am already on a watch list (lol)
This case is really hitting me hard, maybe because I live close to DC or because these poor girls were murder with no answers....I don't know.
Has anyone heard of this case? Any theory's?
