Friday: Severe Weather predicted - Midwest - Southeast

Just for perspective on how crazy the nation's weather really is right now, my sister and her family have to dig out from underneath about 25 inches of snow in WI.

Hi, Neighbor. I read your earlier posts about the high winds in our neck of the woods. Glad that you're alright. There are some traffic lights out in the area, and we had a couple of power surges during the night, but no damage and no loss of power. Winds have died down significantly, but it's chilly. Have a nice weekend.

:D Chilly in southeastern lower Michigan is a lot different than in Texas ;) It's 36* north of Motown, mostly cloudy with intermittent sunshine. This is a perfect "chili" day: I did the prep, and DH is in the kitchen as I type putting the concoction together to simmer for a couple of hours.

Bon Appetit!

A baby girl found alone in a field in Indiana after Friday's massive, tornado-spawning storms is being treated in a Kentucky hospital.

A spokeswoman for the hospital in Salem, Ind., where the girl was first taken said Saturday that authorities were still trying to figure out how she ended up in the field alone. St. Vincent Salem Hospital spokeswoman Melissa Richardson says the child's family is from New Pekin, Ind., about 10 miles south of where the child was found.

The little girl is alive but critical.

Death toll in this article says 34

Praying she makes it. It really sounds like she was caught up in the tornado. :( I hope updates on her condition continue. Praying for everyone affected by the storms.

They had a tornado touch down in Paulding County (Dallas) Georgia and that is where our daughter lives.

Homes damaged, trees down, and power outages but they do not think anyone suffered injuries but they are still assessing the situation. Several planes were flipped over at the airport there.

I talked to our daughter and she said it hit right up the road from where they live.

It is going to be a rocky night for so many people. Please be safe and alert.

IMO

So glad to hear that she made it through safely.

Critically injured girl found in field sole surviving family member from New Pekin tornado

NEW PEKIN, IND. — A baby girl found critically injured in a field Friday 10 miles from her New Pekin, Ind., home is the only member of her family to survive a tornado that killed her parents and two siblings, officials said Saturday.

(names not being released yet due to pending notifications of Next of kin I would imagine) Her parents and her two siblings were killed as they lay in the facedown in the hallway of their mobile home. Their next door neighbor left his home to go get them to bring them back to his mobile home which was a doublewide, thinking they would be safer there.

He was picked up by the tornado and he survived and has broken bones but thankfully is in stable condition.

:( Bless her heart.

Oh my goodness, how very sad. Sending special prayers that this baby gets a loving family and home.

Death toll seems to be rising: now stands at 37 per link above/CNN.

I had heard that the child had been reunited with her family, but I guess that was incorrect. I am totally positive that she will find a family that will take her in, love her as their own, and give her a wonderful life. Midwest and southern folks are good like that.

I am praying for all involved, affected, and concerned. God bless each and every one.

Oh my Holy Jesus.

There really are no more words other than that.

God Bless all who saw that and others like it; I'd've been utterly, thoroughly convinced that the world was ending. Literally.

If I saw that...Dear Jesus, if I saw that.

I have gone storm chasing. I have had some moments where I absolutely loved it, and was on an adrenaline high of a lifetime. There were other moments when I was sure I wasn't going home. But I have never seen anything like that. I pray to the Lord I never do, because I would come away from that changed on a very deep and fundamental level, and I'm not sure I want to change that much.

That is the most glorious/awesome/terrifying/demonic thing I have ever seen.

Not to downplay the devastation left in the wake, but I have to marvel and be amazed at the power and the beauty of Mother Nature.

Made the trip to Moscow to take some things there. No pics because they still aren't allowing anyone in. I hadn't been able to get anyone on the phone to find out where to drop off the clothing I had, but the next town over had a lot of traffic and a church with a sign out front. Sign read FREE FOOD, so I figured they were helping out. Sure enough they were collecting clothing and feeding anyone who needed it. They even offered me a plate.

I got to thinking after I left, this is just March and we still have quite a few cold days left. I would bet that many were left without coats. So I have a few donated by me son and I am going to go through my closets. Looks like I will be taking another trip down.

Demonic, absolutely demonic!

God bless you. I hope (and somehow know) that there will be a lot of folks doing early spring cleaning, and bringing bags of clothing and household stuff, and food, to those in need.

If there was a way I could get there, I'd be out, combing through debris, and doing my best to help, however I could.

Oh phew. I can understand it as a volcanic eruption (although still scary), but if that was coming down out of a storm cloud, I'd've died.

Still, a horrendously magnificent picture, irrespective of what caused it (although I am glad it wasn't a tornado).

Someone's gonna have some 'splainin' to do...
