GUILTY Fugitive Lois Riess, 56, arrested by US Marshals for alleged murders in MN and FL, Mar 2018

 She had already found new potential victims, IMO. I'm surprised she had not tried to dye her hair or cut it to be less recognizable. SO glad she was not very smart and got caught!

I would like to know more about the folks she'd befriended on the island. Were they more potential victims? It seems to me, if you're on the run after committing two murders, you wouldn't be a social butterfly. There had to have been an ulterior motive. Really makes me wonder how long she would have continued on her murderous path had she not been caught.

Investigators in Minnesota, Florida Work on Cases Involving Lois Riess

Local law expert Branford Colbert, a professor at Mitchell Hamline and a public defender, said it's impossible to know which county will get to try Riess first.
"Each state can prosecute her and what will probably happen is the states will communicate and decide which one should go first," Colbert said.
Colbert said if Florida goes first, Minnesota will watch closely. Especially, he said, since Florida has the death penalty.
"If she is convicted, then the question is, do we spend all the time and money prosecuting her, especially when she's going to be in Florida, facing the death penalty," Colbert said. "Those are difficult decisions."

Serial killers can be very social. JMO. I think she would have continued once her money/luck ran out again. :moo:

She looks so different from the photos. Maybe it's the gray hair, I was expecting blonde.

Bizarre she didn’t change her hair. Could have colored it darker and then had it cut shorter into a bob. Would have blended in with all the middle aged women.

Lois Riess to be held in Lee County jail without bond, pretrial detention hearing planned
Published 9:27 a.m. ET April 29, 2018 | Updated 10:11 a.m. ET April 29, 2018
Alleged double homicide suspect Lois Ann Riess will be in Lee County Jail for at least five days without bond after her public defender was granted a pretrial detention hearing for the Minnesota woman.
During Riess first appearance hearing, an assistant state attorney said that Texas authorities said that she had a psychosis and was refusing to take medication.
Wearing a dark green jail smock and standing before a video camera at her first appearance in Lee County Court on Sunday, Riess answered Judge Zachary Gill's questions sparingly and in a small, halting voice.

Hey all! Just found this thread a few days ago and have finally caught up!

I remember someone wondering back in the posts about how much she won at that casino. In the article above (post #156)

n the following days, she was seen driving Hutchinson's stolen white Acura TL west through Louisiana. An attempt to get $200 at a Louisiana gas station failed, authorities said, but she was found to have used her own ID to claim a $1,500 jackpot prize from a casino in the state.

Here's what I came up with:

Tuesday, May 29th:
*Arraignment Hearing (@ ET) – FL – Pamela Sellers Hutchinson (59) (April 9, 2018) – found dead in her apt. and LR took IDs & car - Lois Ann Riess (56) - 4/19/18 taken into custody in South Padre Island, Texas after being on the run since 3/23/18. 4/12/18 Florida charge Riess with 2nd degree murder, grand theft, grand theft auto & criminal use of personal ID. 4/26/18 extradited by to Fla, 4/28/18 booked in jail, 4/29/18 pretrial detention hearing. No bond.
MN - 4/25/18 filed 2nd degree murder charges for – David Riess (54) (March 21, 2018; found Mar. 23, 2018) – Lois Ann Riess (56) – suspect accused of shooting husband; warrant for her arrest on 2nd degree murder. Wanted on felony theft charges (3/31/18) re suspicion bank transactions of $11K from DH acct. Will be tried after Florida case.

She's not looking so happy now...

ETA: Why did it take them so long to get her back to Florida? They picked her up on Thursday and she arrived in SW FL on Saturday.

Just Google mapped it's over 21 hours driving straight through. Would tale longer with stops
. And would imagine they'd process her in and out of some sort of jail facilities for the over nights..
