I'm sorry, but how freaking hard is it for someone to LOCK the door of their car while they're getting the cart or putting it away. My 10 year old daughter comes shopping with me all the time, but even if I'm standing at the trunk of my car putting the stuff inside, she's in the car with the DOOR locked and I have the keys in my hand. It takes SECONDS! :banghead:

Aww, he's a doll! Just the cutest little boy, I am so hoping they find him ok. It's possible that she was being watched and first opportunity they took it or as busy as the wal-mart parking lots are a car that was pulling out or going by went unnoticed by her as suspicious while she had her back turned. It only takes a few seconds to grab a child and they'd be on their way before she even got back to the car.

Update on Missing Child

Thursday, January 26, 2006

Release of details surrounding the search for a missing boy in Bacon County are on hold.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation has postponed a morning press conference detailing the search until 2 p.m. The GBI originally planned to release information on the ongoing investigation at 9 a.m., but postponed the conference as they actively pursued leads in the case. News 3 Dianne Derby is on the scene and says she has observed Appling County sheriff deputies, as well as officials, with the GBI at a point in Appling County. A GBI crime scene vehicle is also on the scene. Officials at the location would not confirm if their presence was related to the search.

Mother of Missing Boy Arrested

Posted: 01/26/06

The mother of three-year-old Ahmad King, reported missing Tuesday evening, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

In a joint operation, the GBI and Bacon County Sheriff's Department have taken Mary Jean King into custody. Law officers are searching a wooded area of Bacon and Appling Counties near King's property for the boy's body.

A search has been underway for Ahmad since King reported him missing from a car in a Jesup Wal-Mart parking lot. At the time, she said she left her car just for a few moments to get a shopping cart and when she returned, he was gone.

WTOC has crews on the scene and will have more information as it becomes it available.

Those who were doubting the mother were correct. She has confessed to murdering her adopted son Ahmad King.

"A Bacon County woman has confessed to murdering her three-year-old adopted son Ahmad Mashon Rawls King."

Article is short, say she has been arrested and they are searching Appling County. More to follow.

Unbelievable.... once again, most of us were on track from the start. This is just another sad story where when a child really does go missing its so hard to determine if its another parent covering up or really a kidnapping.
How sick it is becoming that parents so easily abuse these situations because they want to cover up their horrible deeds. That poor precious little boy.

I also doubted the Mother's story. However, I really didn't want to - you know what I mean? I didn't want to feel the way I do now, which is sad and drained.

A murder warrant is pending against the mother of the 3-year-old boy she reported missing Tuesday from the Wal-Mart parking lot in Jesup, according to a news release issued Thursday by Special Agent in Charge Jeff Evans of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Mary Jean King, 34, is said to be cooperating with investigators in the search for the body of her son, Ahmed Mashon Rawls King, according to Evans.

Lawmen served a search warrant at midnight Wednesday at the residence of Timothy and Mary Jean King, 2305 Ga. Highway 32, east of Alma near the Pierce-Bacon county line.

Evans said information gathered by lawmen indicates the boy is dead.

"We are conducting extensive searches in hopes of recovering his body," Evans said.

The mother claimed Tuesday the child was last seen in the back seat of her car parked in the Jesup Wal-Mart parking lot around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Wow...the WS'ers knew this one didn't pass the smell test. So sad. He was such a cute little boy. WTF is wrong with people??? :furious:

I don't know what is wrong with people. I saw this and my first comment was to be...yeah, right! But I feel sometimes I am too negative so I let it slide. All I know is my heart has been filled up for this little baby...so cute...and this is so wrong.Just a baby! Not right...just not right.

Oh No! He was such a cutie pie, this is heartbreaking. I'm gonna say it's drug related on the mother's behalf because that's the impression I got of her when I saw the video this morning.

Dark eyes show the trouble you knew
The searching for kindness and love
While the evil around only grew
Help came from the watcher above

Lay down your little head, Ahmad
And sleep on the soft pillow clouds
With the angels before you who led
To all the love the master avows

Just a baby in Heaven. But still, it pisses me off so much. I cannot conceive of someone that is so ill thought of at this young age. It is like a young Cody Posey. Abuse at all the parameters and our life is only a possession. Someone please recognize that children are suffering in abusive situations. I will exit with these thoughts.

After a long day of trudging through the woods of rural Georgia, search crews backed off a little once it got dark, sending a lot of people home around 8pm last night. "It's difficult," said Special Agent Jeff Evans with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. "It's difficult for the guys involved in the investigation. It's difficult for all aspects of it."
"We're going to have people out here all night," said Sheriff Foskey. "A lot of guys going to be working, but we're going to send some home that's been up two or three days and longer without sleep. And then we're going to pick back up in the morning full scale."

Foskey says they'll have dogs, helicopters, and every available person back out today, and hope to finish the job as soon as they can. "We're not going to quit until we find him. We're going to be here until we find his body."

Police are asking anyone who may have seen Mary Jean King's gold Toyota Camry along Highway 203 or Highway 15 Tuesday afternoon to please call in so they can try and narrow down this search as much as possible. Anyone with information can call the Bacon County dispatch office at 912.632.2760.

If she's already confessed to his murder I don't understand why she's not telling where his body is at :banghead:

I read somewhere this morning that the area all looks alike....pine trees etc. and she wasn't familiar with the area and couldn't pinpoint exactly where she dumped the baby. They probably ought to put a chain on her and let her do the searching and I'll bet her memory would improve greatly.

Police say information they obtained in the Kings' house after a search and countless interviews with the parents have led to this arrest. They believe Mary Jean King, who adopted Ahmad just a few months ago, is guilty of his murder.

King had pled for her son's kidnappers to return him safely (Mother Pleads for Missing Boy's Return). Now police say that was all a hoax to cover up another crime. They searched the family's Bacon County home today.
----------------------------------
Authorities now believe Ahmad was killed before King drove to Jesup and reported him abducted from a shopping center parking lot. They say she has confessed, but they haven't charged her yet.
----------------------------------------
"She's cooperating, she's upset," said Evans. "Somewhat relieved, she said."

At this point, they can't say why she would kill a child she and her husband have cared for for two years, and just adopted last fall. "They were very active in the community, as far as taking children in," said Evans. "This was not the first or one of the first children that they had taken into their home."

Authorities continue to search in a wooded area today for the body of three-year-old Ahmad King, whose mother at first reported him missing from a Wal-Mart in Jesup. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says Mary Jean King, who adopted the boy a few months ago, told investigators yesterday that she had killed him.

Searchers are now focusing in an area near Highway 15 and Highway 203 in Appling County. Authorities picked up where they left off last night when darkness fell, spreading out into the heavily wooded area along the highway, walking at arm's length from one another.
----------------------------------
With so much wooded area and a small child's body to find, the search is enormous and meticulous. "Thousands of acres," said Appling County deputy Charlie Beach. "Just thousands upon thousands of acres. We're walking it all by foot, we're covering every square inch, and doing it twice and sometimes three times. We don't want to overlook anything."

They have been in the woods since about 9am, and will continue to search throughout the day, working in shifts.
-----------------------------------------------
Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen Mary Jean King's gold Toyota Camry along Highway 203 or Highway 15 Tuesday afternoon to please call their local authorities, so they can try and narrow down this search as much as possible.

The county sheriff also said these people were friends of his, were active in the community and had been in his home. Nothing has been said yet about how many children they have of their own or have adopted. I'm wondering where these other children are now, were they left in the home or taken by children's services? Was the husband involved at all, or was he lied to also? She's "relieved"? I'm not! I want to know what her excuse for killing Ahmad is, how she has been able to fool everyone about her care for children before to be able to adopt, were other children in the home abused?
