This is so terribly sad - this poor little boy .

This really breaks my heart. Poor little boy. Thank God they have found his body so that he can get the proper burial he deserves.


I still can't fathom what possesses someone to kill a small child and I honestly don't think I ever will. But to waste the time of so many caring devoted people looking for him when she could have just "said" where his body was at kills me!!:banghead:

Which brings me to say hats off to all the devoted, patient people who stuck in there to find this precious little guy.

From the previous link, some questions answered, on charges and that she did this alone:

"Today investigators found his body after searching along Highway 121 near Highway 203 in Appling County, and charged his mother with his murder.

"Ahmad's body was located probably about five to six miles from where the search teams were actually, physically at today," said Special Agent Jeff Evans with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Investigators are not giving any details on what led them to that location."

"Mary Jean King has been arrested and charged with murder in Bacon County and concealing the death in Appling County," said Agent Evans. "At this point, authorities have no reason to believe that anyone else is involved in the death or assisted in concealing Ahmad's body."

It looks like she deliberately led them to the wrong area; I'm sure she knew where he was. If nobody else was involved, her husband and Ahmad's adoptive father must be bewildered and devastated to know what his wife has done.

Why in the world would someone go through all the trouble to adopt a child and then turn around and do this?:banghead: She has this boy for a month. When I first heard his body had been found I wasnt quite sure they were correct because the night before they said the same thing on our local news, then recanted and said no he wasnt found. I looked this morning and they are still showing that there is a search.

They showed this woman all crying on the news when it was first reported that he was "missing".

A Bacon County woman charged with murdering her 3-year-old adopted son, then dumping his body in the woods and reporting a fake kidnapping, beat the child to death, according to preliminary autopsy results.





Ahmad King died from "multiple blunt force injuries," the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a news release.



Authorities found his body Friday covered in straw on a tree farm in Appling County, about 15 miles from his South Georgia home just east of Alma.

Woman Gets Life for Killing Adopted Son

ALMA, Ga. - A woman who was convicted of killing her 3-year-old adopted son and reporting that he had been kidnapped was sentenced to life in prison.

Mary Jane King was found guilty of felony murder in the Jan. 24 death of Ahmad King, who was killed with a 2-foot pipe at the family's home east of Alma, about 200 miles southeast of Atlanta.

King, who was also convicted of cruelty to children for beating the boy's foster sister, was sentenced Thursday to 20 years on that charge. The sentences will be served consecutively, Superior Court Judge Dewayne Gillis ruled.

King will appeal her conviction, defense attorney John Thigpen said.

"This was one of the worst child murders that I've ever seen," District Attorney Rick Currie said after the sentencing.

"She beat that little boy with a belt and a pipe ... and she left him to die and then she hid the body. There is no doubt she is a child killer," Currie said.

King wept as she testified Thursday that Ahmad's death was an accident. She told jurors she lost control while spanking him. When she realized he was dead, King said she panicked, hid his body and told police he had been abducted.

"If I had wanted to kill the child, I would have used a knife or I would have hit him with a brick, but I didn't," she said.

An autopsy revealed that the boy had been hit more than 50 times with the pipe and a belt buckle, causing internal injuries resulting in his death.

After Ahmad died, King hid his body in the woods, an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation found.

King then drove to a Wal-Mart in Jesup, about 40 miles away, where she tearfully told police and store employees that Ahmad had been taken from her car when she went to get a shopping cart.

The false kidnapping report led to an intensive search for the boy by law enforcement officers, store employees and other volunteers. But King later recanted, acknowledged to GBI agents that Ahmad was dead and led them to his body.

Although King never said why she beat the boy, investigators testified that he apparently had called her a name when she sent him to his room for fighting with his foster sister.

Good - I hope she never sees the light of day again.

As for the system of adoption - I can't say for Georgia, but in California there are a number of evaluations that my husband and I went through in order to adopt our three children. We were fingerprinted each time we adopted, and criminal checks were run on us. We were required to submit letters from non-family members about our suitability as parents. We were interviewed several times during each adoption by social workers and made to jump through hoops with each child. That was OK since we knew that we sincerely wanted to adopt these children and become a family together. I seriously got the impression that the lengthy evaluations were to weed out people who weren't committed to becoming a family.

In any case, I can't comprehend the evil done by this woman - I hope she rots.

That's not a very fair statement. Many young girls are unprepared for motherhood and give up their child in hopes their baby can have a better life.

Giving children up for adoption is far better than leaving them for dead in a dumpster.

I am sick and tired of reading attacks on adoptive parents on this forum and have reported it to the site owner.

Children are abused and die at the hands of biological parents every day. It is no more fair to target all adoptive parents for slander than it is to target racial or ethnic groups.

True. Although I do feel that if adopted parents were screened better, this would happen much less often.

It's a crying shame, because, adopted parents should be seen as angels - not clouded by the fact that some are monsters.

Adoptive parents and Birth Parents are equally likely to be good or bad.

Perhaps there is a social solution. Perhaps if we could go back to Mayberry like times and teach young children to respect others.... so when they grow up, they'd respect their own children and pass on that trait. It got lost somewhere. Any ideas how to bring it back?
