Family worried about missing 15-year-old Conyers girl
Conyers police said officers did an initial search with the use of a K-9, but did not find her.
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Jacqueline Higgins and her family are worried about her 15-year-old daughter Amilyah Higgins, who left her Conyers home on Dec.11.
“I just want her to come home,” Jacqueline said. “We can talk and get the help she needs. She was getting the help she needed. Give her more help.”
The 15-year-old has left home before, according to her mother, who also said she suffers from mental illnesses that she takes medication for.
Jacqueline said she wants the Conyers Police Department to have more urgency in the case. Police posted a BOLO, or a be on the lookout, on Dec. 19.
It reads that the teenager left her home near Milstead Road and was last seen wearing blue and white striped pants, a black hoodie, black shoes and carrying a bag with flowers on it.
Conyers police said officers did an initial search with the use of a K-9, but did not find Amilyah. Police did discover a note during their investigation that indicated the teen planned to travel to another state to pursue her dreams.
Anyone with information on Amilyah’s whereabouts is asked to call the Conyers Police Department at (770) 483-6600.
