I would prefer we rehabilitate the drug abusers in prision....robbers...or any of the other non violent criminals we've filled our prisions with. Keep the murderers and child molesting perverts off our streets!

Lots of us do try to change the laws to support the LWOP...DP sentences.

Trouble is there are so many people in the system who claim that these people can be 'cured', much as you basically seemed to say when you said that if our Country with all of our resources couldn't save this 12 yr old then there is something wrong with us.
Not that perhaps the boy is just an evil devil spawn, no it must be societys fault if we can't fix him.

You are already advocating his release back into society without having any idea of just how anti-social, mentally damaged or evil this boy is. You have nothing other than his age and your save his soul mentality to base your willingness to put him back in the reach of victims.

I've based my thoughts on him by his behavior of willingly strangling the life out a helpless 8 yr old girl.

if I've mis-comprehended your intentions, my bad. It just appears to me you are more concerned with this murderer than you are with the safety of society.

You did it again? How DARE YOU say that to me? You know absolutely NOTHING about me and it appears that you don't even bother to read what I posted - AGAIN. Perhaps you should remove yourself from your keyboard and take yourself out for some fresh air. You're obviously too upset to be thinking rationally and you're really not doing yourself any good.

well I got a message from the moderator of a complaint about me to fix a post here where I claimed LP wanted the boy out in 2 years. I would fix this posts if I could find where I actually said that. I looked and never saw it.

This is reminding me of another forum now where you either agree with the moderators or have your posts deleted. Old habits die hard I reckon.
But, hey at least I didn't wastye 50 bucks to get kicked out.

Please reread the thread, starting on page 2, you have misread.

Disagreeing with someone is one thing.
Attacking someone is something else, and will not be allowed.

OHHH Boy someone here has struck a nerve with me.You see my oldest son was charged and plead guilty to a felony assualt charge. he served 3 years in CYA and was given counseling and placed on the fire crews way back when. This was when SOuthren Califronia had the major fires back in the late 80's early 90's.
Yes the DA and the judge becuase he was border line adult when the trial came they could have thrown the book at him since it was actuallt 2 counts. Thank God they did not. He is now a model citizen for the last 20 years. yes if you get them young enough they can be treated. I feel the same way for this kid as I do with Lionel Tate. Give them a second chance after serving some time.

So whats everyone opinion on this alleged murderers rights being violated? Is it a huge deal that his parents or lawyer were not present at his interview?

Can he recant his confession?

Why do these things happen ~ shouldn't standard procedures be followed?

Isn't that also an attack on a poster, when you call them ignorant. Don't let that power go to your head girl. Theres a new sheriff in town who prolly won't let you willy nilly throw your weight around.

Assault doesn't compare to cold blooded murder of a child. I'm all for reaching juvenile offenders when they are young, but not those who have crossed the line of murder.

Sorry Sweetie. I call them like I see them. In this case, you continually prove me correct.

Well hey, if it makes you feel better by all means think of me as someone whose intelligence is dwarfed by your own superior bird brain.

Guess what. The one person was in ICU for twenty days with a punture lug. the other was there with a lacerated liver. So that is ok huh? I bet you think Lionel Tate should be sent away for ever. Even though it was an accident

Good grief, where does this come from. No I don't think that is ok. I don't think it's just cause for keeping someone in jail for life. As for lionel Tate I don't know that it was an accident.... I don't know that it wasn't. I do know the case we are talking about was INTENTIONAL MURDER and the MURDERER should be in prision for LIFE!

Hmmm lets put some puzzle pieces together here. The 12 year old boy was held in at the police for 4 hours without a lawyer or his parents? Reminds me of a case in SanDiego where the boy admitted to killing his sister charged and the whold nine yards Only to find out some prep did it Heck if I was 12 without anyone there but the police. I would say anything. I know I used to do it with me dad. :banghead:

Lets just for a moment say that this boy is shown to have been the murderer by evidence. Not any statements, do you think him serving 2 years is Justice.. do you think this boy who is able to commit a brutal murder will become a model citizen and we will have nothing to fear from his release? I don't.

You now I see how quick to judge you are a kid.I coached kids for years. And yes I had some hard core ones to boot. And the reason they were hard core was because of the way they were raised. Lets put the blame where it belongs on the parents.
I know with the attention the kids I coached got from myself and from other parents we saved at least 3 from a life of crime. Yes IMHO they can be rehabbed. Now I am not saying all. But at least you have to give them a chance.
HMMM Melendez come to mind here. they had eveything and look where that got them.

I don't think I'm quick to judge, we are talking about a 12 yr old who MURDERED an 8yr old baby girl. There is something seriously wrong with the psyche of any 12yr old capable of that. I'm certainly not going to blame every parent of a murderer, we are free will agents and will answer for the choices we made. I think afer murdering you give up any claim to getting another chance.

We don't know for certain what this boy admitted to or what the police may have coerced from him. Could be he played with this girl, or aggravated her, left her and someone else came along and killed her. Could be he did it, but my point is, we don't know.

As a parent, I would say I would be absolutely furious to find the police had my child under interrogation for FOUR hours without my presence or even notifying me of it. His rights were terribly violated, in my opinion.

I believe, also, that if you get a child young enough, you can rehabilitate them.
