Well, it's purely hearsay but my roommate's mother knows her and said that she's schizophrenic. {a layperson would confuse the terms) She recalled a time several years ago that she was extremely scared that someone was trying to poison her.

I believe it. The first uncut video shows she is paranoid. She stated that she believed her ex-next door neighbor arranged to have her baby killed. She was detached and her affect was inappropriate.

No, it was last night. It was short and she seemed "ok". She is a broken woman but answered Piers' questions and relayed what took place.

My heart goes out to this woman. Doesn't matter what her ailments are - I can not imagine watching, seeing what happened - an innocent baby shot in the face while sitting in a stroller! How horrific!!!!

No one should automatically believe SW's daughter, obviously... she may have an agenda. But it sure does put a spin on this case. I don't think anyone is suggesting SW was involved in the murder of her son. But this whole story and how it has played out is odd. I don't think I am the only one to think that. It appears LE is still looking for the entire story and motive, even though two suspects are now in custody.

I wonder what would be the motive of SW's daughter to speak out? It doesn't seem to be money..

Im not sure anyone automatically believes her , but it certianly makes this whole story even odder than it already is! I mean there is a possibility that she might have just ID these two boys because she has seen them, possibility walking down the street, if she has the illnesses reported by her daughter it really does make one wonder....... having grown up with this illness in my family, I know the things it does and I recieved more than one threat of "you would be better off if I killed you from the Ill adult who's care I was in...Im just sayin.....it could be a possibility, Im not quite ready to convict anyone yet but this poor little babys death is just really hard to swallow, and for it to be completely random...ugh! I hate this I hate this!!!:furious:

I hate hearing those kind of statements from the daughter. LE seems to be convinced they have the perps in custody and proved that by going after the family they believe to be giving false alibis. This murder is sad and chilling enough without family mucking it up even more.

No, there is no possibility. Police didn't pick them up based on her ID. It was the other way around.
Police picked the younger one up based on the anonymous tip. The younger one pointed to the older one.

Yes, she needs a rational spokesperson, but if she's schizoaffective (as her daughter stated), such people aren't in her circle of friends. It's not easy to get the very scary diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder. She's very likely to have thick records at several inpatient mental hospitals. That's just an honest fact with schizoaffective disorder.

I don't like it either. If daughter had suspiciouns, contact the police. Why go to the press? If she is wrong in her suspiciouns all it does is jeopardizes the prosecution.

I think LE has other evidence besides SW identification of the suspects. Possibly a video that absolutely proves the aunt and mother were lying which led to their arrest. What else would be proof that they were lying? I can't see them charging them with giving false information unless they had proof positive.

There is nothing in the papers about the arrest this morning, but on the news it stated the mother and sister of Elkins was arrested at 5:00am this morning for apparently lieing to police officers/investigators.

This is really beginning to be racial and I am concerned about riots.

This case makes me so sick and heartbroken.What happened to this beautiful baby is absolutely unbelievable.
But all the racial tension it caused makes me sick as well.I don't even want to read anything on facebook but it seems to be swapping over to this site as well.
These were completely misguided ARMED CHILDREN that killed a BABY !!!!
These were not black kids killing a white baby.It does not matter.
My heart goes out to the mother but her own son was in a situation where he was apparently the aggressor and was killed in self defense.His myspace looks like he had this mentality as well.It doesn't matter what color these kids are ,its the gang mentality that is a disease of society and it takes everyone to fix it.We can't let our kids grow up any longer without knowing the value of life.It's just so so sad all around.

I respectfully disagree, having some experience in this matter.

If I recall correctly, at least one of the accused was in custody when the mom ID'ed him from a photo lineup, so CLEARLY something else lead LE to the accused.

I can give ya a few "what if's" that would lead to charges.

Aunt - drove car with DE hiding in back - report sayind car leaving scene had kid hiding in back - maybe Aunt couldn't alibi herself for the shooting and was "waiting down the street" for the kids? Aunt has previous charges - wonder if they were for drugs? Or LE does have video the refutes some of Aunt's story

Mom - DE was home. Maybe LE has found mom wasn't even home at the time.

I still wonder about the gun. Maybe they have found the gun and it was mom's? I don't know if Aunt would have had a gun - probation and all, still she could have.

Rather than video - I still think they have an eye witness. Somebody was watching out a window and saw the whole thing. Mom said very early on that a neighbor saw it - but that's been refuted. Maybe only refuted to keep that neighbor anonymous and safe. I know if it was me - I would DEMAND witness protection immediately!

As for mom and aunt - lesson 1 - DON'T lie to the police!

I'm still wondering about mom's meds - now finding out about the schizo diagnosis - she could have had some serious meds. Who knows - maybe aunt or mom worked in the drug store and overhead what mom was on? Maybe aunt asked DE to get the meds? Or told DE something like "I know where to get some hard stuff and make some money"?

This case is such a mess and little Antonio has been lost in it all.

Thankx jjenny - I missed that. You're right. So DE's aunt has been arrested for lying to police. Have we even heard from her in the media? Wonder what she told LE that was such a lie as to have charges filed? Maybe she had a gun registered to her and then couldn't produce it?

I apologize again - my bad. Hard to keep them all straight. Got me really wondering about this aunt now.
