I can't find this anywhere else, but saw the press conference is live right now.

The family of the suspect called LE to say the suspect was live streaming as he was headed to the Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, and he had a rifle. LE acted quickly and located the man in the airport. The truck was parked outsdie with a rifle in it.

LE is commending the family or their bravery in coming forward.

LE intimating that there's maybe a mental health history/component here. MOO

What a terrifying near miss! I'm so, so glad that the family reported him, and that the police took swift action once they did

Was a dog in the truck. Dog had been returned to family.

It makes you wonder just how often this happens and we don't hear about it

LE iterate the importance of see something/ say something. He said there's LE but nothing compares to the saturation of regular folks who can call in situations like this. "This is how it's supposed to work."

Countless lives saved today IMO, including his.

As big as that airport is, it’s impressive that they intercepted him so quickly. Glad to hear the family was responsible in reporting the threat timely.

He’s in federal jurisdiction now so maybe he will be dealt with appropriately. I wonder if the family or others had been attempting to get him help in the past.

I wonder if license plate readers helped them locate him

I think maybe the fact his truck was SO recognizable helped. It was a flat bed pickup and he pulled right up and sorta left it crooked right at the drop off/pick up area. I know when I've picked up people at our airport, I can't even sit for 30 seconds before one of the workers is asking me to move if I'm not loading/unloading right then.

Absolutely this isn't avoided without his family calling LE to begin with and then LE working so quickly.
