Was the vehicle stolen? or was it burned bad enough to make it impossible to get a vin number or information to find the owner? I know lithium battery fires can be intense

I was wondering the same.. I found a video from a news station but wasn't sure if I should link it as they show the burning vehicle and we know a person was trapped inside. :(

This was a new car with a price of approx $60K. The 2022 Tesla Model Y is a versatile electric SUV that combines performance, spaciousness, and advanced technology, making it a popular choice in the EV market.

July 5 was a Tuesday, following Independence Day (July 4) on Monday. Very possible she was travelling after July 4 weekend.

I was only able to find two news articles about the crash-- both identify the driver as being male, so the investigation must have been very early on. It feels like there's probably something going on behind the scenes-- They had to have had a license plate or VIN to go off of. Teslas are also pretty connected in terms of satellite/GPS/etc. I'm surprised they don't have some information as to whether the vehicle was stolen, belonged to the deceased, was being rented, etc. From photos of the aftermath, it looks like the fire was concentrated in the front of the car, which means the back plate likely would have survived. Maybe it had been recently purchased and still had a paper tag? Again though, it feels like it would be pretty easy to go through a list of people who had purchased that model nearby, given that it was new at the time.

Was there another case like this at some point? I remember a news article about someone who hit a gas line with their car and burnt so badly that it destroyed any belongings they had along with the license plate

I tried to see if there has been an announcement about who this was but I can't find anything. The only thing I can find is where there was a similar accident in allearantly the same area where there were 2 people in the vehicle and 1 was identified right away, the other was recently but I do t think it is the same case.

Teslas as many electric cars tend to ignite at crashes due to the battery. Expensive car, though
