'MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in solving the 1996 homicide of 39-year-old Barbara Crenshaw, whose body was found in Echeconee Creek in south Bibb County on March 19, 1996.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, deputies said Crenshaw was last seen in the early morning hours of March 19 with an unknown man. Her death was ruled a homicide, but despite an extensive investigation, no arrests have been made.'

'The morning began with company and ended with a creek. That’s the narrow corridor where the truth about Barbara Crenshaw vanished.'

'She was 39. In the early hours of March 19, 1996, someone saw her with a man no one seems to know. By the end of that day, deputies found her in the creek. The death was ruled a homicide. The investigation stretched on. The years did, too.'

'Sometimes a case turns because a detail finally finds daylight. Sometimes it’s a phone call. For Barbara Crenshaw’s family, the creek has held this story long enough.'

The thought of the poor woman with a broken pelvis (from auto accident), possibly being subjected to a SA, is horrifying, imo.

'MACON, Ga. — Nearly three decades after Barbara Crenshaw was found dead in Echeconnee Creek, investigators are revisiting the cold case with renewed hope, thanks to advancements in DNA technology. Crenshaw, who was 39 at the time of her death in 1996, was discovered just over the Houston County line in Bibb County.'

'Crenshaw had been living with Flores' parents in Houston County after a vehicle accident left her with a broken pelvis. '

'' She also mentioned Crenshaw's frequent visits to a motel that was demolished sometime after the murder.

Investigator Kristina Tench of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office suspects the case may have been motivated by sexual assault. "Anybody that was at that scene or in her inner circle is going to be a person of interest," Tench said.''

''Tench noted that if DNA is found but is too degraded, the Criminal Justice Coordinator will assist with funding for additional testing through an outside lab.''
