I think this is the NamUs page for this UID. The date of recovery is listed as December 31, 1995, but the ME/C Case Number is the same as the one listed on his Doe Network page.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Sex Male
Race/Ethnicity Uncertain
Estimated Age Group Adult - Pre 70
Estimated Age Range 49-65
Estimated Year of Death 1950-1995
Height Cannot Estimate
Weight Cannot Estimate

Circumstances of Recovery
Skeletal Remains found in woods off Ridgewood Dr. Near Blue Ridge, GA
Now both his NamUs and Doe Network links have date of discovery as March 23, 1995. GBI still has March 23, 1997.

Surely there is something to be found about his suspected killer. This is a strange case.

I’d be interested to learn more about the man who made the confession. If investigators believed the body had been there for up to 45 years, that would place the death somewhere between about 1950 and 1995—though it’s likely closer to the earlier end of that range. If the victim was estimated to be 49–65 years old, that would put his date of birth roughly between 1900 and 1950.

There’s a man I came across who seems like a plausible match, but on FamilySearch it appears that obituaries for some of his descendants have surfaced. That suggests the family line has probably already been researched, so this lead may have already been explored.
