The man shot was a friend's FIL. DeMott had actually complained about this guy harrassing him and said if they found him dead to question him. Apparently, the guy was waiting on the back porch with a shotgun when DeMott walked out the door.
LESSON: IF you are being harrassed, do not take no from LE as an answer. Do whatever you can to keep yourself and your family safe. While I did not know Mr. DeMott personally, he seems to have been a good man--doing more physical labor than preaching while on the mission field. (Physical labor goes a lot further with me.)

Ronald Elbert Bryant entered a guilty plea to a count of malice murder in the Dec. 18 fatal shooting of Millard Brett DeMott. Judge Richard M. Kent sentenced Bryant to life with the possibility of parole.

Under Georgia law Bryant, 49, will not be eligible for parole until he serves 30 years of the sentence.
