Indiana native's body found burning on Georgia road | wthr.com

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — On July 7, Brittany Wicklein was planning on celebrating her 32nd birthday by heading to Savannah with her beloved aunt, Melba Scott.

Now, the family is instead trying to raise money in order to plan a proper burial for the mother of two.

Wicklein's missing person case has now turned into a homicide investigation after her body was found burning on the side of a South Fulton road.
...
Atlanta Police said Wicklein had gone missing on Thursday in the area of 731 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and was reported by her friend.

Surveillance video, according to police, showed her getting into a black vehicle. That was the last time she was reportedly seen.

"Approximately 12 hours after police were contacted and approximately 27 hours after she was said to have entered the black vehicle, Ms. Wicklein’s body was found in the City of South Fulton," said an Atlanta Police spokesperson.
...
Brittany and her two kids lived with Melba, who she called "Auntie." Melba said her niece loved music, dancing, was athletic, and was in the medical field.

The mother-of-two, who Melba said always put her family first, moved to Atlanta from Indiana for a better opportunity for her kids and better education.

"She left her purse, my door, her lights on, her makeup like she's coming right back. I haven't moved anything either," Melba added. "I'm telling you we're in so much shock."

It's the second case involving human remains that were found under similar circumstances in South Fulton in the last week.

BREAKING: Beloved mom found set on fire hours after worried friends report her missing during Atlanta business outing
A young mother has been found dead less than a day after her loved ones reported her missing.

On Thursday evening, 31-year-old Brittany Wicklein’s friends reported her missing when she failed to contact them for several days. According to police, Wicklein was last seen at a business strip in northwest Atlanta, at the Simpson Plaza in the 700 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard.

Friends reportedly said that Wicklein was on a business outing in Atlanta when she disappeared, AJC reports. As her photo circulated around social media, local firefighters made a gruesome discovery less than eight hours after Wicklein had been reported missing.

South Fulton firefighters stated that they arrived at a scene off of Jones Road near Ga. 42 to find a car engulfed in flames at around 4:30 a.m. Friday morning. Inside the vehicle, firefighters found a woman’s charred remains.

They added that they would continue to provide updates online as more details were available.

Brittany's body was also found in a burning vehicle.

The 🤬🤬🤬 states "Thank you all for your generosity. The money raised will help with Brittany's funeral and burial expenses and also help her two kids left behind.
Brittany was the sole breadwinner for her family. We are going to continue this fundraiser so that Brittany's family can pay for funeral expenses and also help the family moving her from Atlanta to Indiana.

Our sister, Brittany, was tragically murdered on June 18th. She was brutally murdered to death after bring abducted outside her family apartment building where she was living. She passed away as she was a protector and hero of her kids. Brittany is survived by her children and mother and brother. She was the sole provider for her family and we ask for any help for our family to give Brittany a proper home going and help her kids as much as possible."

So her brother stated she was abducted, but this article states "Investigators discovered surveillance footage that appeared to show the missing person entering a vehicle along Joseph E. Boone Boulevard just before 1 a.m.," Avery said. "The video appears to show the missing person walk to the car, open the door and enter, before the vehicle pulls away." Whose car was she found in? Was it the black one she allegedly got into on video? I’m confused about how she left the aunts home. Did she just walk away, did someone enter the home and take her, was anyone else home at the time?

Yes it’s all quite sketchy. Her brother stated she was abducted yet the surveillance found shows her getting into the black car “willingly.”

Police: Woman got into odd car hours before body found burning in South Fulton

Friends and family say they lost touch with Wicklein early Thursday morning, one day before her charred remains were found. Police have released few details about the homicide investigation, leaving a slew of questions.

According to the initial missing person report, a friend told police Wicklein was last seen in the area of Simpson Plaza in the 700 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard in Atlanta about 1 a.m.

The friend told officers he and Wicklein were walking home from a store when a black car reversed on the street and stopped near them, according to a police report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

When Wicklein walked up to the car, someone inside started screaming at her to get in, the friend told police. The woman complied and the car drove off, the friend said.

Surveillance footage from the area confirmed Wicklein got into the car before it pulled away, according to Atlanta police. It is not clear who was behind the wheel.

Wicklein was not officially reported missing by her friend until about 4 p.m., approximately 15 hours after she was seen getting into the black vehicle.

Her friend said when he tried to call her that afternoon, a man answered her phone, according to the police report. The man reportedly told the friend that Wicklein had been involved in an incident that left his mother’s home damaged by gunfire. The man demanded $100,000 and hung up.

So many red flags here...why did her friend wait so long to report this?
I would like to read the police report.

So she gets in a black car with an unknown person and is then found in her own car which was set on fire with her in it?

Simpson Plaza looks like a rough area of town. What would she be doing there at 1 AM?

I’m confused over the information in MSM.

She was on a work trip to Atlanta.
She worked in the medical field.
She went to a club.
She was walking home from a store with a friend at 1am.
Her friend didn’t report her until 4pm the following day....15 hours later.
Why didn’t her aunt report her missing when she didn’t come home to her children?
Was it not unusual for Brittany to disappear for days in a town she just moved to?
