The sheriff has urged rural Telfair County landowners to be extra vigilant and call the sheriff’s office if they see anything unusual.

Deer hunting season just ended, which is good for the deer but not so good for spotting suspicious activities in the woods. Hunters jealously guard whatever land they lease but this time of year many large tracts are empty.

Out of the two photos released of the suspect, which one is more recent? I'm worried that he might be an outdoorsman based on the camo gear. Bud and June could be anywhere. :(

Wearing camo clothing is common in the area where the suspect lives.

It was posted on the Find Bud and June FB page that he has no criminal record. Been married at least twice and current wife has shut her FB down. I am sure she was getting bombarded with messages

ok, so if they police questioned this guy earlier and it didnt' appear anything untowards, or whatever they called it............. does anyone have any opinions on WHY they are now calling him a suspect besides the fact that he has tried theft by deception before, doesnt' mean he had anything to do with this, I would be apt to say "person of interest" instead of suspect, but now in addition, the Police have a warrant for him..............why?

IMO because they think he may have fled across state lines? Easier to have him apprehended across lines and to put it out to LE in other states (think the mall stalker/killer/rapist who fled to Texas last year)

So then if he did this why? Meth?

That also might explain why LEO let him go, small town cops know everything so if he was a suspicious character they would have most likely held him.

I have a feeling the suspect may have decided to eat a bullet. Crazy thought, not sure why I think that, but I do.

I tried that and it seemed the link was inoperable, right?

ETA Sorry, not your link, but the link to court records went to a database error.

I actually was able to find some info, but only when entering his last name (not both names)
and I got a host of other people with Towns as well as Ronnie.

Since my hubby and I are close in age to Bud and Ruth's age I don't think it is about losing a part of the brain that sends off red flags. A lot of the brains of the elderly work just fine.

I did not mean to insult anyone of any age. Nor was "lose"a good choice of term for what's going on in the brain. I was just pointing out that scientifically as people age, their hinky meter loses some power. Not everyone's brain, of course, but some people just age faster than others due to a multitude of reasons.

I also didn't mean any offense to imply they may have stayed overnight to not drive back after dark. I am in my early 30s and get scared driving in unfamiliar (especially non populated areas) at night.

Since one of the charges to be made against Towns is criminal attempt to commit theft by deception -- kinda confirms for me that either there was no Mustang or there was one but it was not Towns' to sell.

Someone asked earlier if we know WHEN Towns was questioned. I don't -- does anybody? I wonder if he was somehow encountered and questioned BEFORE they linked the burner phone to him? Because, if not -- why in the world would they have let him go (or, at least, get out from under their watchful eyes) at that point...?

I am from north GA and not familiar with this town but just the reading I have done show meth has been mentioned a lot.

I would say yesterday. Cobb county failed to notify McRae until Friday night and the sheriff said they worked all through the night. He said they questioned the POI early in the investigation, so that makes me think early Saturday. jmo

Maybe the couple provided his name or address to relatives? Or wrote it down?

If they questioned him about the "Internet" and someone he supposedly contacted through the net I can absolutely see the police not pursuing it. They get some weird call about some weird "Internet" meet up...accusing a local boy that was born and raised in that town etc...

I am south-east from Mcrae by about 70 miles. Rain poured down all day Friday and into Saturday (early, like a few hours past midnight). Saturday was dry.

I actually registered just to post this. I'm an experienced driver and I frequently travel between Jesup and Hazelhurst (using highway 341). McRae is a bit further in this same area. There are areas where I have zero cell signal, so much so that it will drain battery attempting to call out and this isn't on an off road, this is actually on the highway. I can imagine a scenario where they decided to power down to conserve battery. Combining with bad weather, I want to be hopeful that foul play is not involved. The region is a heavily wooded area. I feel like there's potential for them to be out there in a situation related to vehicle trouble or even leaving the vehicle on foot.

Welcome and thanks for joining us. Local insight is especially helpful here. Thanks for posting.

My partner/hubby just sold his car before buying a new one the same day.He told me he sold it on a car forum but actually sold it on craigslist,he knew I would be against the idea.Lucky for him it was a nice couple and he met them at our friends limo business.I always inform him of these cases but that has not stopped him,he found someone on craigslist to mowe the lawn when he broke his hand and I was angry about it because he left me alone with the guy and to pay him.I don't think men are as cautious as women and men tend to think nothing could happen to them.
Please God let them be ok.

I couldn't help but get a giggle here because I totally know what you mean!

OT/ When there's a link to a FB page for a missing person, is there one spot on the forum/thread to find it. I seem to spend too much time searching for the link...this is why I'm a terrible sleuth!

Teche, I've noticed that the fb links generally come up within the first couple of pages of thread.

I have an an idea on this but don't want to post it for obvious reasons, need to be careful here not to compromise the integrity of the investigation, kwim! Bud and June are still out there somewhere. Marking my spot to come back at a later point if necessary and elaborate more, if applicable.

Lots of good thoughts here.

I'm going to add my usual line in here and ask, "What does the 🤬🤬🤬 eat for breakfast?" (Of course LE will be searching any properties, etc connected to him).

What is this guy's occupation? Hobbies?

********************************************

What can we take from other cases we've studied/followed that are similar, to possibly help in this case....Millard had a hangar, and farm, was into "big trucks", was an adrenaline junkie, stored TB's truck in his mom's garage, used an incinerator, had an accomplice...(thinking out loud), AL in Beverly Carter's case was dumb as a doorknob, and had help from his gf....disposed of BC at a former worksite in a shallow grave.

***************************************

I think it is an optimistic and great thought about them potentially being held waiting for the bank to open, but not until Momnday because the bank would have been open on Friday if they did not make it there Thursday evening...I think its likely that if Bud did not have the full cash, his account would have been accessed Friday morning....There would be limits on how much cash he could withdraw via atm. I just think he likely had the cash beforehand, if he wanted to buy the car that day. He must have trusted the seller.

******************************************

So, was RT siting around planning this for a while? Or was this is a fairly spontaneous crime?

I'm sure curious to know how they linked the phone to him.

Also wondering how far it "moved south of McRae", as media reports said.
