Didn’t know about the baby or killer couldn’t bring themselves to harm the child? I haven’t seen a theory about burglary or intended victim anywhere yet. I’m just starting to follow.

This is local for me. Some of the extended/family and friends live in my neighborhood. I didn't know the couple.
I do know the dog was not harmed either.
Seems baby was asleep at the time per comments I've read on various posts.
They moved into their home early Sept. 2021.
Questions are circulating about whether this was mistaken identity.
Police haven't released if home was broken into or if anything was taken, but I'm lead to believe the answer is no.
Will continue to follow.

Cherokee firefighter, wife killed hours before bodies found in Acworth home

Justin Hicks was a firefighter who worked with Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services for more than six years, Chief Tim Prather said Friday in a news release. Prather described Hicks as a highly motivated, energetic individual who had recently completed his paramedic training.

“Justin has touched and impacted many lives, and he will be dearly missed,” Prather said. “Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of a member of our family and his lovely wife.”

According to Delk, the shootings took place sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning and were committed by one or more “unknown assailants.” There is no indication the suspected shooter stayed in the area.

“This is being investigated as a double homicide,” Delk told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday, confirming police have no evidence to suggest murder-suicide.

"Amber and Justin Hicks, both 31, were found dead from gunshot wounds inside their Acworth home around 9:30 a.m. [Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021] , Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk said in a news release."

"According to Delk, the shootings took place sometime between Wednesday night [Nov. 17, 2021] and Thursday morning [Nov. 18, 2021] and were committed by one or more “unknown assailants.” There is no indication the suspected shooter stayed in the area."

At 0:27 of the footage, it looks like a window screen, that should be on the window, is resting on the ground behind the heat pump unit. Could this possibly be the point of entry? The window looks to be closed, though, from what I can see.

Then, at 0:57 of the footage, we see another window where the blind seems to have been disturbed or broken. Can't tell if the window is open or closed.

Yes, I see the screen now!

This is just horrible. I can't imagine why these two would have been murdered. The neighborhood looks very nice and quiet.

It is awful and I hope they find the killer/s quickly. Was it a family member who discovered them?

I don't think that information has been reported yet. I may be wrong, though, as I haven't read all the articles that are available if you "Google" the case. I'm sure that they were probably missing from their jobs and failed to show up. That usually sets the wheels in motion on how some victims are discovered.

I hadn't seen that! Thanks!

My guess?
The first screen we see was removed by people?
2nd window by the door with the blinds was where police made entry into the home to check on family?
Who knows! I assume they look for the easiest way to make entry.
So disturbing!
This couple is the same age as my kids!

Also, don't firefighters work colored calendar days? Like green, blue, red or something?
Maybe someone can chime in.
I believe they work 24 hours on 48 off in Cherokee County.
Just a thought as to both of being killed the same night.
Was it random or targeted? No idea!
