What I heard was that MWF felt the jurors are her peers and she [MWF] didn't need to show them [jury] respect.

What you said is basically what I meant. I sometimes post my words backa$$wards, lol

What are they going to do with the estate now? How will it be handled?

MF looks very, very sad.
She did stand for the judge, apparently, but not standing for the jury, per usual.
IMO.
Perps are often asked NOT to stand for the jury. Very often, they're shackled, sometimes to the floor. You ccan sometimes see the guards gesturing them to sit if they try to get up. They might also be wearing handcuffs. Not Melody, but most cases. Remember all the discussion in the Sarah Boone case?

Scott looked broken. She did give up her earrings [as someone mentioned]. But, what about wedding rings, apparently she wasn’t wearing the ring(s)? Did she assume she’s be found guilty? At the time, she was being handcuffed it looked like her youngest daughter just arrived. jmo
Who wouldn't after what his mother did to him? And he had to sit there and take it while defense pointed their finger in his direction. Of course, he's broken.

Her attorney explained it in his closing arguments. He said he instructed her to sit as it was a jury of her peers.
I call fabrication. Security likes defendants to sit for security reasons.

@JuliaCourtTV

#MelodyFarris stands for the jury as the verdict is read…something she didn’t do during the trial.
Their decision:
GUILTY of malice murder, felony murder, concealing a death, making a false statement & aggravated assault.

Wonderful result.
I watched the trial late, and am pleased that the jury agreed.
She had an easy life, but decided murdering her husband, would be a bonus.
Not so smart, after all.
YIPPEE.

I hope someone writes a book about this case, going way back to the split between Gary and Melody (whenever that may have happened) and chronicling their lives from that point forward to arrive at the final outcome today. I would definitely buy it :)

Heck, a TV series with several seasons! Think of the random oddball witnesses. The strange men you weren't sure were in love with Melody. Maybe maybe not. Diaphragms, who they might belong to, and whose DNA might be on them (imagine how we could have been entertained if LE tested those diaphragms and Rusty's seedlings were not on them). What was the Chad flirtation? Defense didn't dare put him on the stand?

I also wanted all the lead up stories. What was the deal with the bond? The estate? The secret marriages? Gary's affairs?

I’m a bit surprised at the verdict even though I was leaning toward guilt. However based on the verdict and how it went down, I’m of the mind to think they were all in favor of guilt and just had one holdout as Harriet_Eva stated earlier.

RSBM

We heard so many tawdry things, I found myself wanting to know more of the backstories!

While I will always prefer a book, this story needs to be told in full. I suspect Netflix or Lifetime or xyz streaming could make this a great watch.

I agree, a book and a series! I have so many unanswered questions.

The older daughter I believe said that the affairs started in the early 2000’s. She found out from her father. It was with the guy prior to Rusty, I can’t recall his name but he testified. She said shortly after M moved in with him. That’s pretty bold, to be married and move in with another man.

I want to know how long she lived with him and if M went back to Purcell when they split, among all of the other questions I have.

His name was Ted Wiley and he just so happened to be her sister-in-law's partner of many years. The affair with Ted lasted almost 4 years, then she ghosted him and moved straight onto Rusty afterwards! IMO, BBM.

Ok wow- so they got to a verdict! When is sentencing? I missed that part

She stood up for the Judge.
The verdict was
Guilty! She has a delayed reaction, but oh yes, she does have a reaction. I think it hit her like a ton of bricks where she's headed. Takes off her pearl earrings before being taken off.

VERDICT: GA v Melody Farris

The first affair Gary knew about was Ted Wiley, who was his sister's significant other of 20 years. So, there's that! I'll bet that wasn't the first... So many random guys seemed to have a thing for her.

Matt Johnson said Scott started wailing, bent over, sobbing uncontrollably. He said Chris looked at his brother and started crying too, but nothing like Scott.
That really breaks my heart. Fingers were pointed at him, and probably still will be, plus having to testify against his mother for the murder of his father, that would break the strongest of people. I can't imagine how Amanda is feeling right now.
I may not completely agree with the verdict, but I have to respect it. But, those five guilties aren't going to bring peace or closure to this family, at least not for a very long time. This was a hard trial.
IMO.
