Lumpkin County family very worried about missing 20-year-old

Curtis Jay Elliott, 20, was last seen at the Rainbow Gathering during the Fourth of July weekend. His family and friends haven't spoken to him since July 5, five days ago.

Elliott's family is very concerned about his whereabouts because it's uncharacteristic of him to not contact his parents.

The Rainbow Gathering... another group of people gathering in the woods and someone goes missing. What is going on?

This is not the first bit of bad news connected to this year's Rainbow Family Gathering. Authorities said a woman who met a man at the gathering was killed by him in Kentucky.

Rainbow Gatherings are temporary loosely knit communities of people who congregate annually in remote forests around the world for one or more weeks at a time[1] to enact a shared ideology[2] of peace, harmony, freedom, and respect.[3] Anyone is allowed to attend and participants refer to themselves as a "Rainbow Family".

In a related development, a 20-year-old man, Joseph Bryan Capstraw, is in custody in Kentucky after allegedly killing a woman he met at the gathering.

The Rainbow Family of Living Light is a name for a very loose collection of self-described misfits, nature lovers and artists who gather annually in a national forest.

This was their 47th gathering, but the first in Georgia. The event ran from mid-June to July 4.
