Google 'Austin Rhodes' (I don't think I can link it - it's a FB page). I don't know if what he is saying is true or not, but I think if the perp had forced him with a weapon, then he would've used a weapon to kill him. I'm still thinking there is more info to come out, unfortunately.... JMO

Thanks, and yep .. looks like everyone is thinking what I'm thinking :)

Backwoods how would this make it worse for the family? Not sure what you mean.

What I mean is that his wife and son (we know he has one son, he may have other children, IDK) may not have known that he was seeking sexual encounters online and it may add to their grief to learn of it. Or perhaps they did know -- even so, the details coming out so publicly this early may make things harder for them.

I see, I thought I read he was unmarried.I will go back and read again.

Doctor Murder Trial: Guilty verdict on all 3 counts, sentenced to life - October 19th

http://www.wrdw.com/content/news/Opening-statements-to-begin-in-trial-for-man-accused-of-murdering-Augusta-doctor-397366801.html

A jury has found Glenn Riggs guilty of malice murder, felony murder, and armed robbery in the death of a Barnwell doctor and shortly after he was sentenced to life without parole plus 20 years.

Wednesday, Riggs took the stand painting a different picture of what happened and why he killed Dr. Charles Mann. Riggs posted a Craigslist ad for sex but said the post was for females and got responses but said he wasn't interested in any of them.

In court Wednesday, Riggs said Dr. Mann replied to his post but under a different name so Riggs didn't know what he looked like or that he was a doctor. Riggs said he only replied to Mann because he was getting annoying so he decided to rob him instead.

According to Riggs, when Dr. Mann showed up to his home he tried to tell him to leave the cash, laptop, and beer but the doctor refused and started undressing and at that point Riggs said he became afraid and thought Dr. Mann was going to rape him.

Riggs said he choked Mann and hit his head with a 25 pound weight out of fear. However, the state didn't buy Riggs' story and pointed to the Facebook message he sent his best friend and the interview with investigators to remind the jury he didn't tell either of them that story.

Motion for new trial denied in Barnwell doctor's murder case

Glenn V. Riggs II, 26, was back in Richmond County Superior Court on Friday for a hearing on his motion for a new trial. In October 2016, a jury convicted Riggs of murder and armed robbery for the Nov. 21, 2013, murder of Dr. Charles Mann, 60.

Judge James G. Blanchard Jr., who sentenced Riggs to life in prison without the possibility of parole, denied Riggs’ motion for a new trial.
