GUILTY GA - Eight family members brutally murdered in Brunswick home, 29 Aug 2009

They have narrowed down the window of time in which it occurred:
Snipped~
"We had a 12-hour window, but we've now narrowed that down to six or eight hours," he said. "And we've been able to eliminate some persons of interest. We're working very methodically."

There is also info stating that the 3yr old boy is doing better.

Sounds like they are calling in the Marshalls thinking the killer or other participants may have already left the area. Could this have been a targeted hit and they were looking for a drug stash I wonder.

What did the two older men do for a living?

Has the FBI been called in by the PC yet?

tia

I think this slaughter does involve drugs in a major way, I live close to the Mexican border and this reminds me of the those Mexican cartel hits. Didn't I read somewhere that they were shot execution style???

Not that it matters any really but is the family/victims white or black? Several pictures show a black female pointing to the home and it states she is saying her son was killed. Guy Jr looks white from the mugshot. Were several groups living there?

From what I have heard the majority were white, one black, and the little boy is mixed.

"They're kinda low key. But they're very upset, very disappointed. They're seeking the solace and prayers of this community," Adkins says. "The family members that I spoke with that are involved in this think had they got involved earlier ... they could have prevented this."

I wonder what they mean "they could have prevented this"?

I don't think they could arrest him just because he entered the residence and discovered the victims. He lived there and had rights to enter.

It seems to me they would just move him to an undisclosed location instead of locking up a man that just had his family totally wiped out. I think they have suspicions about him. Why out of all the rest was he spared? And being the one to find the body is also usually a red flag.

I think they are holding him on the lesser charges while they do their investigation. It gives them bought time.

If the dog was so ferocious in the 911 call how did it let anyone close to these people that lived in that home and I find it strange that he supposedly lived there yet the dog seemed hostile.

imoo

I zeroed in on the discussion about the dog too. According to the 2nd 911 call, code enforcement had recently been out there to deal with a "ferocious" animal. The 911 call-taker had actually been one of the officers dealing with the incident & had met the manager of the mobile home park. The manager sounded young-ish & the terror in her voice was disturbing to me. Even with all that emotion, her statement... really an aside to herself.... "how did they get past the dog" ... may be significant. Could the dog have known the killer(s)? Or perhaps the residents called off the dog because they knew the person(people).

As for the arrest of Guy Jr, my 1st thought was he was being held on petty (well not really) charges because the investigators think he knows who may have killed the family... I'm thinking higher-up drug dealers... & having him in custody may convince him to tell what he knows. Charges are often dropped in exchange for information. Now if word gets out that he rolled over on someone, he will need protective custody.

I know we are jumping out there assuming a drug connection, but experience says it's more than likely. Comments in & associated with news articles confirm a lot of drug activity in the park.

Saturday afternoon, a woman came to the scene in a white car, spoke briefly to some residents and then began screaming.
Belinda West contacted the Times-Union Sunday and identified herself as the woman. West said her son was not inside the mobile home as one of the New Hope residents had said and that he is safe and well.
She came to the park looking for her brother-in-law who lived in the mobile home, but whom she declined to name Sunday.

I wonder if the baby that is mixed could be related to her, and if the bro in law she was looking for was the BF of the mother of the child.

Three-year-old Byron Jimmerson, the lone survivor of Saturday's mass killing at a north Glynn County trailer park, is improving in a Savannah hospital, according to relatives of the victims. The child is still in the hospital but "is doing better," said Alva Cross, 46.

Cross, who is the sister of Russell "Rusty" Toler, said her brother was among those killed in the trailer park massacre. Rusty, 45, is the grandfather of Jimmerson and the father of Michael Toler, 19, who is the only fatality identified publicly by police, Cross said.

More, from what I assume must have been the press conference:

Doering said he would not characterize Heinze as a suspect in the homicides. "I'm not going to rule him out, but I'm not going to call him a suspect."

Doering would not say if all the victims were killed in the same manner.

At least some of the bodies were so disfigured in the attack that visual identifications were impossible.

Police contacted Glynn County school officials to obtain fingerprint identification for one of the victims, according to Leslie McCracken, executive director for Glynn County Schools.

She said, however, that the school system did not have the information that would have been helpful to the investigation.

police were also searching isolated pockets up to 15 miles away.

He said the trailer where the bodies were found was familiar to police. Police had responded to it on more than one occasion prior to Saturday's killings.

He declined to specify why police had been previously called to the residence.

He is Doering.

It is most likely those of the "banned".... I expect to see that over there too... or would if I read there. I read here exclusively so I don't have to read all the hateful things on places like that.

Websleuths is a forum with manners and focus. If you do read there or other places just remember that all other forums do not have the same high standards. ((and remember to don your cyber armor and gas mask))

thanks anne of chicago for that update... it doesn't sound like a contract hit... but rather like overkill~ a crime full of hate, revenge, passion,... someone out for someone or more than one in that trailer.

Very possible. I just heard shot in the head, but didn't sound exactly like execution style with at least Michael's face bashed in. Guy thought they were beaten. Still...could be. A kill shot is a kill shot.

Neebee~ I just saw your post and maybe you are right. Not contract, but people on a rampage. I also don't see how one man could have shot 9 people with 4 of those being men (including the 19yo, MT). There had to be some kind of struggle I would think and the odds are against there only being one person involved.
