Thank you very much for the links SoulMagent. Very interesting.

Guy Heinze has been convicted of nothing and remains "presumed innocent" in jail awaiting trial.

I think that it is very sad he was not able to attend the funeral of his family and loved ones. From all published reports no family member thinks he is guilty.
Yes - I feel strongly he is innocent. Absolutely no evidence to the contrary has been put foreword. Mr. Matt Doering has said several times that 2 pieces of evidence that came to light early on (which he will not, and probably should not divulge publicly) caused him to charge and arrest Guy Heinze for 8 counts of murder and 1 count of attempted murder. Thank God it appears the 3 year old boy survived and is now recuperating with relatives. Guy was also charged with "evidence tampering" (he allegedly removed a shotgun from the trailer he believed to be stolen and put it in a car trunk) and possession of a small amount of marijuana and Darvocet.

This has me looking at the most heinous set of murders I have ever heard of of with no answers. Carried on in a very small space, quickly and quietly (By one person?). No neighbor came forward about activity or noise and the trailers are just feet apart. All victims beaten savagely to death with "splatter" as high as scalp parts on the ceiling collected by crime scene investigators. You can see in the published photos of Guy that he hasn't a scratch on him and with the information released so far no motive what-so-ever to murder his family and loved ones.
It was Guy Heinze who found the murder scene that morning and immediately called police. He naturally returned to the trailer and found one cousin still breathing. He can be heard screaming for an ambulance pleading for help on the 911 tapes. He was obviously in shock, terrified, confused and horrified. God only knows how I would react coming upon a gruesome scene such as the one he did. Is there a natural way to act? How would you or I respond?

Those "two pieces" of evidence are going to have to be extremely compelling direct proof of Guy's guilt to get me to change my mind.

Guy Heinze is innocent. He's probably no Saint but he is no killer.

Thanks greg for not forgetting about this case.
It boggles my mind how they just stopped talking and the world forgets.

Morning Greg!

I believe it will be much more than the "two pieces" of evidence that was found shortly after the murders. Those two pieces of evidence early on were enough to arrest and charge him with the heinous crimes. We can all be assured that much more investigation and evidence has been uncovered and forensics tested by now. Just because they had the suspect off the street never means LE closes the investigation or closes the books on a case and goes home.

That is true he is presumed innocent which is a judicial standard for the jury who will hear his case.

I think we all scratch our heads when these type of mass murders occur and it is done by one sole suspect. It is very hard for us who would not commit such a crime to get into the head of someone who did nor can we visualize how all this went down because we weren't at the crime scene when it was occurring.

I have often wonder why Heinz Jr. did not check for life with all who lay dead or dying there. Why just Michael and not the poor little child who was also clinging to life?

It was Heinz Jr. that SAID he found the murder scene. Evidently the evidence that the DA has does not support that. It is very common for the actual perp to say they came upon the murders. They are trying to infer they are not the ones who were actually there doing the crime.

I did not find Heinz Jr. shocked or horrified. He knew 911 had already been called when he went back in and saw Michael was still alive. He knew they were on their way and they would find M alive. He was way too repetitious imo with stressing he had just got home. I believe there are witnesses that will testify that is not true and he had been there at the home when he said he had not been.

It is my opinion since this is a death penalty case they have more than enough proof to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. In death penalty cases the cases seem to be chocked with an overwhelming amount of evidence to prove guilt. I think they have forensics galore on top of witnesses.

It is obvious also that the evidence points to no one but Heinz Jr. If not his own attorneys would want the evidence that LE does have to be known. If it wasn't against their client they would jump at the chance to get that out there hoping to taint the potential jury pool.

Both sides are quiet because they both are trying very hard to see that this man gets a fair trial. With evidence leaked out against him it would only make it harder to find an impartial jury to hear the case.

imo

Wow absolute nothingness. I guess they got their gag order?

It seems so Soulmagnet or the Brunswickian's are just naturally not chatty? =;-) I had a hard time reading this on the Internet so I sent for the hard copies.
"Golden Isles Magazine" from Brunswick did a two part series on the murders and some interesting family background.
Part One: Nov/Dec Issue
Part Two: Jan/Feb Issue

http://www.goldenislesmagazine.com/

I still hold on to the opinion that Guy Heinze is not guilty. The 6 months of smug "we have two pieces of evidence we wont comment on" from The Brunswick Police isn't enough to overcome common sense. 1) One person just could not have done this alone and 2) Just my opinion that Guy wasn't one of them.

I hope the investigation is ongoing. Find the killers.

I'm really glad to see you all here and still posting. It's difficult without any hard information. Yes, of course they have more than two pieces of evidence but Chief Doering made such a big deal out of saying there were "Two" reasons he arrested Guy.
Guy did say I just got home twice (maybe 3 times?) I'd have to re-listen to the tape. In that state who knows what I would have said - I would be a blubbering wreck. If he didn't find the bodies himself who do you think did? I was also sure the first 911 call came from Guy who ran to the manager's porch who also talked to police. She could be heard talking (worrying out loud) that the Heinze dog may bite and that hers might too.
I do think if the gag order was in place for the trial we would have heard of it. These per-trial proceedings are rarely public and there will probably be at least a few of them before they go to trial - Don't you think?

I have listened to the tape so many times I can play it back in my head. I also know the 911 tape was edited after being released I cannot find the unedited copy I wish I had saved it. I wonder if it is on youtube.

I didn't realize the tape had been edited (for time probably to run on the news. I don't think there was any conspiracy)

Guy has a court date this morning. For him it will be the first time he has stepped out of The Glynn Count Detention Center since Saturday August 29, 2009. He was released for a very brief time. I think it was under an hour. His plan being to sttend the funerals and was with his brother Tyler before being arrested again, this time for the murders.
Wait -That doesn't make sense the funerals weren't that day. They would have to be days later. The murders were Friday night/ Sat early AM the 28th.
Help please.
Greg
Please correct my dates if I'm wrong

The funerals where sept 5th for his family members. Joesph West's was later. He was in court after the Funerals for a preliminary hearing in the middle of sept.

I do not believe the edited tapes are anything other then saving space as well but the shorter version is not the whole picture. The unedited tape has stuff in it that is worth digging up if you can find it.

ETA . He was in jail 7 days and I think they(LE) wanted to not issue the murder arrest as quickly but the court released him and they didnt want him to walk free. IMO. And thats why he was out that hour.

This is very troubling. So little information being released. The trial may be several years off? Such is the state of justice in this country? Sad indeed. Impossible to formulate much of an opinion with so little news, but perhaps that is exactly the intent. What was the point of this hearing other than to rule on press coverage and formally notify Guy Jr. that he is facing the death penalty? Brunswick and Beijing may be closer than we think.

I wont go on too much as I see you have already posted and said most of what I was going to. No gag order (at least yet) Not my opinion but the Judge has made some very real enemies in her life - not defendents either

By RUSS BYNUM (AP) – May 25, 2010

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A Georgia man suspected in the beating deaths of his father and seven others in their mobile home is scared to death because he's innocent, the suspect's brother said Tuesday.

Guy Heinze Jr., 22, appeared before a Superior Court judge for the first time since he was indicted on eight counts of murder last September. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

"He's scared to death, and he knows he didn't do it," Tyler Heinze, the suspect's 17-year-old brother, told The Associated Press as he left the courthouse.

Police arrested Guy Heinze six days after the Aug. 29 discovery of the bloodied bodies of his father, Guy Heinze Sr., and several members of an extended family beaten with a blunt weapon inside the mobile home they all shared.

It was Heinze who alerted neighbors to call 911 that morning and sobbed as he told a police dispatcher: "My whole family's dead."

Nearly nine months later, authorities have released few details about the case and have not given a motive. None of the evidence was discussed in court. The judge mostly went over procedural details with attorneys.

Superior Court Judge Amanda Williams denied a motion by Heinze's lawyers to ban the media from pretrial proceedings. But she said she'll consider certain requests to shut the public out of hearings involving evidence.

Defense attorney Joseph Vigneri told the judge he's concerned news coverage of court proceedings before the trial could deprive Heinze of an impartial jury.

"If you can show that to this court, I will close this courtroom to the press as well as the public," Williams said.

While Heinze's brother watched from the back of the courtroom, family and friends of several of the other victims sat quietly up front.

They included Diane Isenhour, whose four children — Chrissy Toler, 22; Russell D. Toler Jr., 20; Michael Toler, 19; and Michelle Toler, 15 — were among those slain. So was her ex-husband, 44-year-old Rusty Toler Sr.

The other victims were Rusty Toler's sister, Brenda Gail Falagan, 49, and Chrissy Toler's boyfriend, Joseph L. West, 30.

"It's a rough road," Isenhour said after the hearing. "I'm having faith in the Lord."

It will likely be years before the case goes to trial. The judge said Tuesday she's giving attorneys on both sides at least three more months before she sets a date for Heinze's arraignment, when he'll be asked to enter a plea.

Tyler Heinze said he doesn't see how his brother could have killed their father and so many others he was close to — especially by himself.

"I haven't heard anything to convince me that one person could kill eight people and come out without a scratch," he said.
