The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a news release that 28-year-old Kirk Taylor Martin, of Acworth, was taken into custody on Friday and charged with aggravated sexual battery, aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit sodomy, false imprisonment, and obstructing an emergency call.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesperson Greg Ramey said the victim was held by Martin from the afternoon of March 7 until the early hours of March 8 before she was able to contact someone outside the home.

A booking photo depicts the rape suspect with dozens of bloody scratch marks all over his neck and chest, which Ramey told the Atlanta Journal Constitution were inflicted by the victim during a violent struggle. bbm

Martin worked as a detention officer with Murray County Sheriff’s Office from March 2017 until April 2018, when he was fired for multiple policy violations.

ETA: And for as violently as she defended herself, I hope she's receiving good care herself. She's a survivor indeed....

GBI arrests former North Georgia detention officer on rape charges

Greg Ramey, special agent in charge with the GBI, also told the newspaper that the scratches across Martin’s chest and neck, which are visible in his booking photo, are from the victim fighting back. Both of his eyes are also swollen from the alleged struggle.

Martin was booked into the Rabun County Jail for holding after being denied bond in Murray County, the Daily Citizen reported.

The joint investigation by the GBI and Murray County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.

Affidavit describes events leading to former Murray Co. detention officer's rape arrest

On Tuesday, NewsChannel 9 received an affidavit about the case.

It says deputies responded to a home after the alleged victim called 911. During the call, a man took the phone away from the woman who was trying to call for help.

Arriving deputies spotted Martin walking from the back of the residence.

The affidavit says Martin told them that he had "f---d up" and told officers on his own that he had "let things get too far."

The affidavit says Martin told them he and a woman had been fighting for hours. He said they had recently broken up from a relationship, and had moved out of her apartment. But he told officers he used a spare key to get inside, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit says Martin told investigators the woman was in the shower, and he tried to engage in sexual intercourse with her, but she resisted. The affidavit says Martin told investigators he pinned the woman down, with his legs placed on his arms, and his forearm across her neck to keep her from fighting back.

her. She told the officer she was yelling and resisting the entire time. She told the officer he was unable to fully penetrate her, but then grabbed an object and penetrated her with it. She also told the officer Martin put his arm on her throat while holding her down, and that she was afraid she was going to pass out.

The affidavit says the woman told officers after he was finished, Martin locked her in a closet. She told investigators she tried to calm him down saying they could get back together, and that after that, Martin let her out of the closet but forced her to stay in the bedroom. He then left, according to the alleged victim's account in the affidavit, and she was able to contact her mother on Facetime, and her mother proceeded to call 911.

When Martin learned the police had been called, the affidavit says the woman told investigators he threatened to kill himself, picking up her firearm off of a nightstand, then get a bullet, but got scared and put the bullet back up.

IMO His criminal behavior has left him scarred for life. She fought hard for her safety, so glad she was able to escape! I see tattoos in his future to cover the damage she inflicted on this creep ( if he ever gets out )
ETA...
I know , I know everyone should have a fair trial. But about those scratches...

I am so sorry for the terrible abuse she suffered. It is scary when a boyfriend turns on you and you see the other side of him.

She should be proud of herself for the strength and determination she had to inflict all those marks on him. She had to have had false nails to make those marks - they certainly came in handy.

Hope she is recovering and will seek therapy to get through this attack.
