Missing from Fallsburg, New York since March 29, 1985. 19 years old, 5’9”-5’11, 170-190 lbs., and he has a scar on his forehead just above his nose. He was wearing a blue jacket, brown pants, a red baseball cap, and possibly a gray and rust-colored sweater. Carrying a burgundy Nike duffel bag which may have contained extra clothes.

The dates are off, but I’m a little confused about the circumstances of Marvin’s disappearance. I can’t tell if he was definitely seen on March 29th or a woman thought she saw him on March 29th. The height is off, which could be explained by the reporting person just not knowing. But the scar on his nose caught my attention. Here are the circumstances:
Gibbs was last seen on March 29, 1985 in Fallsburg, NY. A woman said she saw Gibbs while the two were riding the Short Line bus on the night he disappeared. The witness thought he was dropped near the Delmar Hotel in Loch Sheldrake. It was a dark night and she wasn't sure. She saw the man who got off the bus walking back toward Liberty carrying a burgundy Nike duffel bag. This was about 9 p.m. and is believed to be the last time anybody saw Marvin Gibbs.

Monroe County investigators reopening 35-year-old cold case
''According to Mansfield, Long was arrested on criminal trespassing charges about three months before he turned up dead. He was originally spotted by a school bus driver who was on their daily route picking up kids.

Mansfield says evidence leads him to believe someone shot Long in a car, dumped his body on Mays Road, and kept traveling up Interstate 75.

"Now you start doing the victimology to find out what he was doing in this area, what type of people he hung around with, who would want to cause harm to him, what type of life style he had," says Mansfield.

What Mansfield finds most mysterious is that no one ever came looking for Long in the last three-and-a-half decades.

"What's always puzzled me since I got the case — How does somebody not miss this individual?" says Mansfield.

Mansfield says they've confirmed that Long was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, but thinks both of his parents are deceased. He says one of his parents may have also been in the military.

Investigators are still looking for other family members or friends that may know more about Long or what happened to him.

If you have any information on the case, you can call Investigator Mansfield at 478-994-7043 or you can call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office main line at 478-994-7048.''
