GUILTY GA - Gene Siller, 41, Paul Pierson, 76, & Henry Valdez, 46, murdered, Cobb Co, 3 July 2021 *ARREST*

  • #21
Agreed, why is all the focus on Gene Siller and why hasn't the third person yet been identified? Perhaps Police haven't been able to yet contact next of kin? I also wonder if the first two men were golfers? Maybe leaving the golf course and getting in the truck in the parking lot?

I am guessing that Gene Siller is on the headlines because of his history of competing in the Georgia Golf communities and he is "known" in those circles. A quick search on him it shows he was pretty well known throughout the Georgia golf world and competed regularly.. Therefore to bring attention they used his name.

Also As people have stated the other victims either don't have a lot of info on them. Maybe the third victim's family preferred to not have his name released for privacy.

Overall it sounds like a bizarre case that will take some time to sort out.

Going to guess killer hasn’t played golf, either. Doesn’t make sense why he’d drive through a sand pit. The only thing in front of him was the lake. Feels desperate or crazy. Looking at similar models of truck, it’s fairly expensive. Not much info on Pierson yet. Thought I read something that he was from out of town.

I live in this county and saw a very extensive search for a guy a few weeks ago who fled on foot after firing at an officer. It ended several hours later in the death of shooter. Hoping they can enlist similar methods to find this man.

Recalling Kennesaw's claim to fame In this American town, guns are required by law | CNN

"In Kennesaw, Georgia, local law says that “every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm.”........

It may be the law in Kennesaw to own a gun, but the police department says it isn’t actually enforced....

Many locals CNN spoke to assumed that the law dated back to the town’s founding, but it was actually only enacted in 1982. “It was meant to be kind of a crime deterrent,” said Lt. Craig Graydon, who’s been with the Kennesaw Police Department for over 30 years."

Looks like the truck bed had a cover on it.

Ummm... Why would the owner of the EXPENSIVE truck not be the headline? I am kinda stuck on Gene being murdered on the 10th hole by someone who stuffed two bodies in a truck ..whats up?

CNN is a new thing on a one off murder or three off in Georgia,,,Why is CNN the second news group on the case?

Not clear on what your question is, but will take a stab. CNN is located worldwide in metro Atlanta, this is a metro area city with only one homicide in the last 8 years. Big deal this was done in broad daylight for a triple murder.

Perhaps mods are waiting for ID of both folks as victims to update the headline at WS, which will then allow us to sleuth and/or post social media of the second identified person?

Murder stats are separated from Atlanta proper MOO.

@Soulmagent

I'm not following your comments and meaning.

A triple homicide on a golf course with two in the back bed is newsworthy by those that live there, and for those of us at WS. Would it not where you live?

In a city that had had only one homicide within the last 10 years... it's newsworthy MOO. Big time news MOO of such happening on a golf course etc etc. And CNN can put it forth for other media outlets to keep an eye out for suspect.

I own a house about 2 miles away from this Country Club, but I currently live about 20 min away. I used to live in Midtown in the heart of Atlanta. I think this is making national news b/c even though Atlanta has always had violence, recently there has been a wave of gun violence seeping out to the previously "safe" suburbs, in completely random shootings. A few weeks ago a man was shot while jogging in his upscale Buckhead neighborhood.

And now a triple homicide at a Country Club. The places I used to frequent are now too dangerous for law abiding citizens to go. An upscale mall, Lenox, just had a situation where two teens shot a security guard a couple weeks ago.

People shot after leaving State Farm Arena walking back to their car last week:

The City of Atlanta currently has a shortfall of 400 Police Officers and the surrounding counties, including Cobb, are experiencing similar.

Cobb Police: Country club homicide suspect 'not an active threat to the public'

Sgt. Wayne Delk, a Cobb Police spokesman, said in a release that “current information reveals there is not an active threat to the public at large and there was not a directed threat to residents of the neighborhood.”

"Delk said Tuesday that detectives believe that Siller was caught up in a “crime in progress” involving the suspect and the other two men.

“It does not appear Siller was in any way targeted, but rather was killed because he witnessed an active crime taking place,” Delk said in a Cobb Police statement Tuesday.

One of the other men who died was identified as Paul Pierson, whom police said was the registered owner of the pickup truck. The other victim was not identified but police said he’s believed to be Hispanic."

Crime in progress?
That's a mouthful of word salad.

Cobb County Pinetree Country Club shooting | What we know | 11alive.com

One of the men was identified as 76-year-old Paul Pierson, who was the owner of the Ram 3500, according to police. The other man has not yet been identified.

According to a family friend, Pierson lives out of town and was in Atlanta on a business trip. His family is asking for privacy until the information is released publicly.

A Tuesday release from the police department said Pierson and the other unidentified victim appear to have no relation to the country club.

The more that comes out, the more baffling this all seems. I do hope the community will offer the same financial support to Mr. Pierson that Mr. Siller is receiving. I know he is not from the area, but as far as we know, he is as much a victim as Mr. Siller.

Yes, a 76 year old man doing business out of town? I wonder if he was carjacked at some point in the situation? It's also crazy to me that the Police were blindly asking the public for camera/doorbell camera footage, not on a specific street or anything just in general.

Wouldn't a golf course have significant surveillance? Interesting that none has been released to the public, to help identify the shooter. He must have just run off on foot. Someone must have seen him, in addition to the one person that gave the initial description of a Hispanic man with long hair and dark workpants.

Do you think the Police know the shooter's identity to tell the public that this was an isolated incident and he's not a danger to the general public? They must know who he is, and have some sort of motive to claim that, right?

JMO but it seems that a criminal on the loose (who killed an apparent innocent man during a crime in progress) would be a danger to those in the area. Or is there something I'm missing??

  • #40
And, how bizarre police this morning said no one is in any danger w/this killer on the loose? Huh? Usually that is what's said in a domestic violence situation or a crime where all parties knew one another.
