I promise that I don’t mean in a snarky way: he seemingly lives close enough to drive for a business meeting. :) Presumably LE knows by now whether he was staying in a local hotel. It seems curious that the meeting wouldn’t be virtual, but if it was with a company that does a lot of defense / security work, perhaps it couldn’t be (speculation)

Lol. You must not be from
Georgia. The state is 100% open with no mandated covid restrictions in place, so there are many face-to-face business meetings going on.

Now I'm thinking that the three men were coworkers. That's why the Police aren't overly concerned that the shooter is still on the loose.

Perhaps the first two shootings weren’t random but a disgruntled employee situation. And why police said the golf pro was not related to the situation at all, besides happening upon the truck.

I’m not, but it’s the same in my state.

I still think it’s curious that someone would drive 12 hours for a business meeting, but maybe it was a big gig.

The second victim in the truck has not been named yet, is that correct?
Could he have been the one responsible for shooting Mr. Pierson and Mr. Siller and then taken his own life? That could be why LE is not concerned that there is a killer on the loose. Perhaps something at the scene indicates that the un-named victim is actually the one who was responsible for this tragedy.

Or they have very specific or expensive equipment that you don’t trust the airlines not throwing around! In some of the news photos the open truck bed did look pretty packed with contractor type equipment.

In this article, they seem to have verification that the suspect was seen walking away after the shooting. There’s also a photo of the truck, and it looks like the bed was covered, so responders may not have seen the other victims right away.

Yes this is very strange to me. I think they know who he is but maybe don’t have legal paperwork to prove it and therefore release a statement.

Actually I’m rereading an Atlanta patch article which I’m having trouble linking from FB which published today at 5pm the police said they didn’t know the identity of the second man in the truck. Is it possible Paul picked up two workers to help with some construction or landscaping work and the police don’t know who the shooter is either?!

Right. There are a million+ reasons he may have driven from Kansas for what a family friend said was a “business trip.” Maybe to the friend, a business trip means contracted work was to be accomplished, which obviously couldn’t be done virtually. I’d use different phrasing, but I’m sure it will be clarified over time.

I hadn’t read this before (BBM):

A man drove his truck into the sand trap near the No. 10 green, and when the head golf pro approached the vehicle he was shot and killed, according to a Pinetree member’s post on Facebook, which also said Siller was shot “five times at point blank range.”

Scary this guy is still on the run. :(

I was wondering about that. The overkill in shooting Siller 5 times at point blank range would indicate the suspect is extremely volatile, at best. Still does not seem a safe situation for anyone who crossed his path.

Is it Frey Lake that's on/near the course? If the suspect was possibly headed there with the truck and bodies (as another poster suggested) then he was at least somewhat familiar with the area. ('Just thinking aloud)

Yes, I think the suspect must have been somewhat familiar with the golf course to drive the truck onto it. I wonder if Kennesaw has a lot of places where one can hire day laborers? There is a Home Depot 1.6 miles from the Country Club. I was actually there on Monday and there were not any groups of people looking for work, but it was later on in the day.

Based on the picture of the bed of the truck, the shooter took some time concealing the bodies of Mr. Pierson and the unnamed victim. Several posters suggested that it would have been very difficult to commit this crime unaided, and I totally agree. Not only getting two bodies into the bed of the truck, but removing/rearranging the contents to conceal them would have been no small feat, and would have taken some time.

I wonder if the original plan was to submerge the entire truck in Frey lake or just dump two bodies? Does anyone know how deep the lake is?

That is the theory I’ve seen reported by numerous news outlets.

I just saw this on Cobb County Police on FB today. An update to the original FB post. They still don't have a motive!

PUBLIC INFORMATION RELEASE
Homicide Update

Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons detectives and numerous other special units continue to work on active leads in the homicide case from Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at Pinetree County Club at 3400 McCollum Parkway in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Current information reveals there is not an active threat to the public at large and there was not a directed threat to residents of the neighborhood. Instead, detectives have learned that Mr. Siller happened upon a crime in progress involving the unknown suspect and the two deceased males who were found in the pickup truck. It does not appear he was in any way targeted, but rather was killed because he witnessed an active crime taking place.
The two other deceased males who were found in the truck, Paul Pierson and the unidentified male, appear to have no relation to the location at all. Detectives, along with numerous other special units, continue to follow active leads in this case. We are aware that the public has many questions, the most pressing one being why this happened; however, it is too early in the investigation to speculate as to motive.
We will provide updates once we have additional information.
Anyone with information about this active investigation is asked to contact our detectives at 770-499-4111 or at [email protected].

Three people found (all apparently murdered) on a nice golf course but... with no obvious motive (except Siller stumbled upon the crime) and the "unknown?unnamed" suspect still at large. Was the suspect tracked? LE still searching for him with man-power, drones, etc? Any idea of which direction he fled?

Suspect in Georgia Craigslist Couple's Disappearance Due in Court

This case also makes me think of the Bud and June Runion case. They were shot in a Craigslist fake car sale gone wrong. The killer, Ronnie Towns, then drove their SUV into a pond/lake but it wasn't even deep enough for the car to sink. He had a history of meth use and I guess in his altered thinking just drove the SUV towards a body of water, so maybe there was similar/no logic in driving the RAM truck towards Frey Lake?
