Suspect in Georgia Craigslist Couple's Disappearance Due in Court

This case also makes me think of the Bud and June Runion case. They were shot in a Craigslist fake car sale gone wrong. The killer, Ronnie Towns, then drove their SUV into a pond/lake but it wasn't even deep enough for the car to sink. He had a history of meth use and I guess in his altered thinking just drove the SUV towards a body of water, so maybe there was similar/no logic in driving the RAM truck towards Frey Lake?

A sound theory you have MOO. They were in town on business, to buy a car. And drug useage. And NO experience that golf courses have sandtraps over those little hills as most folks know.

With the identification of the third victim being from California, could it be that the truck owner, on a long business trip, picked up two hitchhikers/drifters and it went very very bad? Just thinking ....

Interesting. Mr. Pierson at 76 might’ve remembered a time when hitchhiking was common and maybe he was more comfortable with this mode of travel. Is it possible he picked them up to do some type of job and it went very bad nowhere near Kennesaw, Ga.? I wonder if the suspect had already killed the other two men and had been driving for awhile, looked on a map for a lake and didn’t even realize he was driving on a golf course….

Nothing is going to make sense unless Mr. Pierson's family comes forward and gives some information. What kind of business was he traveling here for? What was his destination? And was anyone traveling with him? The fact that Henry Valdez was just identified and the shooter's name is either unknown or being withheld, leads me to believe that Mr. Pierson travelled here alone and met up with these two men somewhere along the way?

I wonder if the original plan was to submerge the entire truck in Frey lake or just dump two bodies? Does anyone know how deep the lake is?

That is what is so bizarre about the whole thing. It was 2:30pm on a Saturday. Broad daylight. Who would even think, much less actually sit and plan, to dispose of two bodies at that time of day, in a pond in the middle of a golf course. This guy just recklessly or nonchalantly drove out on to that course apparently mindless to the sand traps and hills. What the heck! He has to be completely out of touch with reality.
How LE can say this guy is not a threat is puzzling. I am shocked he hasn’t been caught yet because I would think he is continuing to display strange behavior. Of course if he made his way home, someone might be hiding him.

I suppose LE knows his identity and is tracking him somehow??

There must be some logical reasons why LE considers him not to be a danger AND also have no "general public" BOLO's issued.

Maybe they know his general location and he's long gone by now......in another state or country?

So did Pierson and Valdez know each other or are connected to each other in some way? Or is this more like a serial killer situation? It's so confusing.

If the bodies were well hidden in the truck, why try to dump them in the middle of the day? Why not wait till dark when no one would be on the golf course?

With the Sonoma County connection in this case, I'm guessing this was a drug deal gone awry.

I still have so many questions. How did these three random people (in the truck) end up together? Why is Pierson’s family so quiet? Why is LE so tight-lipped? Do they really have NO evidence identifying the shooter? My mind is just completely blown.

Hmmm... Now I'm wondering if any of the three has an arrest record.

And the police statement is so contradictory.

"GS died just because he was in the wrong place, wrong time."

"The suspect is not a danger to the community."

Ummmm, I think GS and his family would beg to differ. It makes no sense why LE is downplaying how dangerous this suspect seems to be.

Just say that none of the three poor people who died had any connection with the suspect, then surely he must be a danger to the community.

So far LE has not said that either of the two men were in the wrong place at the wrong time, so doesn't that mean he has some connection to them.
If so then it seems to me that they might possibly know who he is.

Have they mentioned the town in Sonoma County?
The surname is a common one but it is also famous for a huge legitimate business in Sonoma County

From KSU Twitter on July 3rd

UPDATE: Suspect was seen approximately 35 mins ago on Club Drive headed towards Shiloh Road. Suspect has long hair, a white/tan shirt and dark-colored work pants.

Rereading this statement from KSU. Noticing that he left Club Drive, headed towards Shiloh Road. When I map that, what do I see, Home Depot, see attached map. He didn't head towards KSU - the would be the best place to get lost in a crowd. I would think he likely headed to where he started the crime or where his friends were, or where someone could pick him up! Also notice the description says "work pants", not navy pants, not dark khaki pants, but "work pants". IMO, I think he was likely a day laborer, and interesting that he was headed straight towards HD after shooting Gene, see attached map.

Also the 76 year old Paul Pierson that I found online with assets/businesses and a Ram truck linked to Nevada and Kansas is the CEO/President of an environmental remediation company that boasts doing work in all 50 states. They deal with things such as ground water treatment.

Pierson's family said he was in town on a "business trip". I imagine that type of business would require digging holes, to assess issues. What if his normal procedure is to drive to the new potential job and hire help that day?

IMO, I wonder if Pierson picked up two day laborers at that Home Depot to help with whatever job he was about to start that day?

Pierson's family is clearly in communication with the Police since they know he was here on a business trip, and from out of town.

If this is the situation, then it would explain why Police are saying he's not a danger to the community. They probably figured out the shooter's identity around the same time they ID'd Henry. And I'm guessing the shooter is long gone by now.....so no need for Cobb Police to issue a BOLO on him.

And I was shopping at this Home Depot earlier this week! I wish I would have asked if there had been any Police activity there!!!! I will if I go back!

The day labor idea sounds completely plausible, but police said Valdez is from California. Did he maybe relocate here very recently?
