Could not find a thread on this current case. (Pardon me if there is one)
There is a lot going on in this case.

Chloe was in a polygamist relationship and Defense claims she had a mental break at the time of the homicide.

Spillars expressed his view that Chloe Driver was an excellent mother who should not go to prison despite being accused of her daughter's death.

"I mean, these are women, you know, they want to run and laugh and be silly on the beach while me and Z are sitting here discussing doctorate-level perceptions and quantum physics. But these women don't have these types of conversations; they do what women do," he added. "We're not having these conversations with these women; I am not even sure they are capable of that."

Yes, I don't see how this witness is going to help the situation.
Testimony and I believe there is a police report to prove he hit her in the eye and broke her eye socket when she was trying to escape a couple years prior.

Video of conversation with husband after infant's death

The Brief

    • Canton Police Detective Taina Cruz, leading the Chloe Driver murder case, played multiple video testimonies for the jury.
    • Chloe Driver, unable to speak due to a throat injury, communicated in writing during hospital questioning, confessing to the crime and inquiring about her daughter's survival and custody.
    • DNA evidence was collected from Chloe's hands and swabs were taken from Benyamin Ben Michael ("Z") to determine parentage of the deceased toddler, Hannah.
    • A pre-incident video dated November 27, 2020, was presented, featuring Chloe stating she was forced to go with Ben Michael to see her daughter, alleging he kept Hannah from her.
    • During cross-examination, Chloe cited "certain threats" and feeling trapped as reasons for her actions,
    • accusations that Ben Michael denied, prompting discussions about alternative choices and responsibility.
    • Chloe Driver's confession caught on camera

    • Chloe Driver's cellphone searches

    • "Twelve Tribes community single woman with baby"

Does anyone know the circumstances of this baby's birth? Who delivered her?? I assume it wasn't in a hospital.

This is an interesting trial to follow. The jury will have a hard job.

They said that she was born in a hospital but they left the hospital so no birth certificate could be filled out.
They were travelers, so I am assuming that that came into play here.

would that be THIS Jason Stillars? Because that tracks for me

Wanted Man Who Threatened to Rape, Torture, and Kill Multiple Humboldt County Residents Captured in Sonoma County

According to the young woman, she first met Jason Spillars in 2017 with a group of friends from Humboldt County. “It was my freshman year of college and we all went to Coachella together.” One of her friend’s friends had brought Spillars.

“He spent that weekend hanging out with us,” she said. “He seemed pretty mellow–a classic hippie that you can tell did drugs…He had some quirky ideas.” For instance, he said he believed the earth was flat, she explained.

ha! After enduring his lectures this week, I told my husband that I just knew he had to be a flat-Earther. This was after he’d given his lecture on world population, how he knew it was a lie that there are 20 million people in Manhattan because you can stand on the corner and count them driving by. Oh. Kay.

I could add so many negative adjectives that he displayed. IMO...such a waste of court time and listeners' brains.

Thank you for starting this thread.
I have mixed feelings. I don't think Chloe was legally insane at the time of the murder. I think there was a lot going on. Depression mixed with coercion and abuse.
Chloe had a phone. She could have called 911. Would it be easy to leave? No. But why kill your child.
If she is found NCR will she go to a psychiatric hospital? Will she get back together with "Z"?
The homeowner Gerry...what's his story. Is he part of the cult?

I spent the last two days catching up on videos of the trial and am now asking myself why. I guess these mothers that murder have finally gotten to me. I've watched her sitting at the defendant table not even trying to hide her anger. And seeing her cry only when photos of HD's stab wounds are shown or while her male friend is on the stand crying over the events of the day CD murdered her own daughter. I still don't understand why these pathetic excuses for mothers even want to live after they have taken the life of their precious child. I heard enough to know the defendant knew right from wrong when she repeatedly stabbed her daughter and then herself. If she could kill her own child then how could she ever be trusted to return to society and not harm others? JMOO

This might be the first trial I've ever watched, followed and researched in which I want the murderer to receive a long sentence in a good mental health treatment facility (with absolutely NO contact with the child's father nor his minions) rather than in prison.

That didn't trigger a red flag? Woman gives birth in hospital then leaves before doing the birth certificate information? Was "Z" there? I have questions!

I can't get past this part. How to snap a neck?

If it weren't for this ONE Google Search... I'd be inclined to believe that she was a lost young woman swindled into joining a polygamist Cult & was struggling to leave. She left home and school at 16! (I am unfamiliar with this type of family dynamic )

It sounds like she had parental support, was able to go to her parents at one point but then ultimately went back to her polygamist family.
