The GBI is searching for a 1-year-old Jaquari Bennett. Authorities believe the 1-year-old is with 38-year-old Darain Javaris Bennett.

COVINGTON, Ga. - The GBI is searching for a 1-year-old on Sunday morning missing from Covington believed to be in "extreme danger."

Officials said Jaquari Bennett was last seen Saturday night at a home on Chandler Field Drive. The young girl has black hair and brown eyes.

Authorities believe the 1-year-old is with 38-year-old Darain Javaris Bennett. He has brown eyes and black hair.

The two may be traveling in a black 2007 Honda Accord RGJ4146.

If you see them, call 911.

Newton County Sheriff’s Office said at 11:14 p.m. Saturday, they went to 95 Chandler Field Drive in Covington on a call of a person who had been shot.

When they got to the location, 63-year-old Peggy Burns, the grandmother of the child, had been shot in the head.

Before being taken to the hospital, she told deputies that Bennett shot her and her daughter, Keashawn Washington, 38, who is the mother of 1-year-old Jaquari Bennett.

Washington is dead and Burns was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to investigators.

Sunday morning, police said they got a 911 call from Bennett saying he was going to kill the baby and himself.

Riverdale police said they found Bennett’s vehicle abandoned in front of a church at the corner of Riverdale Drive and Adams Drive.

When Riverdale police got to the church, they heard shots behind the building. They discovered Bennett and the child shot to death.

Newton County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.

Everything about this case is heartbreaking. One of the earlier linked articles said that the mother has two older children, ages 11 and 12 who were in the house at the time their mother and grandmother were shot. Thankfully he didn't kill them too, but their lives will never be the same. And now. this new article says that he had been threatening the mother for almost a year.

COVINGTON, Ga – Arrest documents out of Newton County reveal a history of harassment from the man authorities said shot and killed his child’s mother on Saturday then triggered an Amber Alert on Sunday that ended in a murder-suicide.

Almost a year before he killed his one-year-old daughter, his child’s mother and himself, Darian Javaris Bennett was told by a judge to stay away from his ex Keashawn Washington at the cost of his freedom.

According to authorities in Newton County, Bennett was arrested for making harassing phone calls and threatening to kill Washington in July of last year. A warrant for his arrest in November said he was texting and calling Washington repeatedly to terrorize her.

Those threats became a reality on the night of Saturday, June 11 when he shot and killed Washington and shot her mother Peggy Burns in the head. Burns was airlifted to the hospital and at last check, listed in critical condition.
