The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is looking for a missing child in Vienna.

Agents said on Saturday, around 12:30 p.m., the Vienna Department asked for investigative assistance to find 4-year-old Jayceon Mathis. Mathis was reported missing by family members that say they have not seen him for several months.

Mathis lives with his mother, Keara Cotton, 27, in Vienna. Law enforcement said they have not been able to find Cotton since the complaint was filed on Jan. 20.

This investigation is active and ongoing.

The GBI states that the family of 27-year-old Keara Cotton filed a missing person's report for her 4-year-old son, Jayceon Mathis, on January 20.

The family told agents it had been months since they last saw Mathis. The child lived with his mother in Vienna.

Since the complaint was filed, law enforcement has not been able to locate Cotton.

According to a press release from the GBI, 4 year-old Jayceon Mathis was reported missing by family members that say they haven’t seen him in several months. The complaint was filed on January 20th, 2022. The Vienna Police Department asked for investigative assistance in order to find Jayceon on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022.

Jayceon lived with his mother, 27 year-old Keara Cotton in Vienna; authorities have not been able to find Keara.

I wonder when his mother was last seen. Did she leave after the report was filed, or have they just not seen her since the report was filed? My understanding of the article is that they are really only looking for Jayceon?

Am I reading this correct. GBI is involved because mom has been seen but her son hasn't in months? Where's the father, maybe he has the baby? I would like to know if the mom visited family etc and there were no problems other then not seeing the baby. I first felt like there could have been some disagreement and mom kept the child away from family. Which honestly, she has that right. I guess we're going to need more details. IMO

At the beginning of the pandemic, one of our posters asked how many missing children were going to come to light during the shut downs and quarantines. I think the answer to that question is starting to take shape.

Update:

Keara Cotton is in custody charged with 2 counts of Cruelty to Children. Jayceon still missing.
