Missing: Non-verbal teen missing in Baldwin County, search underway

Multiple agencies searched through the night for a missing 15-year-old autistic teen who disappeared Monday in the Torrance Road area in Baldwin County.

Search teams have deployed every available resource, including K9 units, thermal drones, a FLIR-equipped helicopter, ATVs, UTVs, and grid-search crews combing wooded areas. Officials say crews will continue searching overnight.

Agencies involved: Baldwin County Fire, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Milledgeville Police, Atrium EMS, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia DNR, Wilkinson County Fire, and Baldwin County EMA.

Authorities search for missing non-verbal teen with autism in Baldwin County

Volunteers are welcome to assist in the search. The home base for the search party is 151 Coopers Church Rd.

Baldwin County fire chief Bradley Towe says Epps may react a certain way if found. "If you're in the area and you see him, call 911. Let them know. Don't try to approach him. He is autistic, non-verbal, so he is probably not going to respond to you, and he's probably going to try to run away from you", said Towe.

We are still actively searching for Jeffrey with drones, patrolling areas, and first responder personnel. We will resume ground search tomorrow morning.

We are asking residents of the Coopers Community (any areas between Highway 49 and Gordon Highway) to please check any trail cameras that you may have on property in that area and search any sheds, outbuildings, barns, campers, pools, and vehicles, etc. for Jeffrey or signs that he may have been there.

If located DO NOT approach, remain quiet and dial 911. Simply monitor him until help arrives. If you approach him, he may flee or become defensive. Jeffrey is non-verbal and may not respond to his name.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said emergency crews continued overnight search operations and will resume grid searches and clearing waterway areas throughout the day.

Baldwin County Deputy Fire Chief Bradley Towe told local media Jeffrey likes water, raising concerns about the ponds and creeks throughout the area.
