Sources said yesterday that Mason — who publicly claimed after Wilbanks' return that he still wanted to marry her — is now having second thoughts amid published reports of her past relationships.

"In light of her rumored affairs and reports about former boyfriends, he's beginning to grow more skeptical," said one source.

The gown-and-out Georgian is currently in a voluntary treatment program at a Georgia hospital for what her family pastor described as the "physical and mental issues" that Wilbanks says "played a major role" in her cross-country run.

She's expected to surrender to authorities in the next few days, said local prosecutor Danny Porter.

The rest is old news.

"Wilbanks' lawyer questioned Porter's jurisdiction in the case, noting her false statements were made to police in Albuquerque, and authorities there have no plans to prosecute her. "

I was wondering this too.
Can they charge her in GA??
I guess they can, since they have.

But she didn't file the missing persons report .

I just read that she is still in the treatment center and will turn herself in in a few days. That's all I know.

Ok, I will admit a small morbid fascination with this whole Jennifer thing. As with the media, it is always hard to see what grabs and then holds anyones attention. So, I think John should run for the hills and this girl needs help. And we should have some thread or something to discuss it. NEXT! I have just gotten into reading the Abaroa forum. Wow- reminds me of the very early months after Laci's disappearance. A lot of real sleuthing and discussing and efforts to raise media awareness and get this story out there. Reminds me of the first 6 months with Laci when it wasn't all about how much we hated certain people. (who deserve it but I digress lol) Maybe we could help get this case up on the radar. She is the lovely woman who was murdered the same time as Jenny-on-the-run came into national attention. A few posters are holding down the fort over there and looking for interest and effort. :blowkiss: see you there! Leslie

SNIP
Sounds as if he finally flipped the switch that turns his brain on.

Guess the wedding is off then? Think the shoplifting epsiodes would have some affect on him too, maybe not. Just goes to show you, worthwhile these days to run a background check on the love of your life, unfortunately.

Greta Wire Report's

Update, 5:04 p.m. ET: A few minutes ago I spoke to someone who is close to John Mason — the fiancé of the "runaway bride." John was flown to New York City last weekend by a book publisher who is offering a book deal to John and Jennifer. John is "very interested" in the book deal and likely to sign a contract. The book would be about forgiveness and redemption.

Makes me sick to my stomach. Stole this post from a friend!, in case she catches up with me.

Woow, book deal.
Wouldn't Jennifer need to sign the contract to, to get part of this deal?:waitasec:

When this case first happened, my first post was that sometimes the results of our wrong decisions can be enough punishment in itself. I really am starting to feel sorry for this girl. Her life will never be the same;that's for sure.

If they want her input and she wants part of the profit, yes. However, it can be written from his perspective without her assistance.

Well isn't that a good thing? Her life shouldn't be filled with negatives, theft, lies, lack of responsibility. With proper punishment, counseling& support....like tough love, it should change for the better.
All this hysteria on her part & publicity will make it hard for her to be anonymous, but they do it in the witness protection program.
She has to be willing to cooperate with those honestly trying to rehabilitate her& she has at least another 30-50yrs to enjoy a good life. I am praying for her! :) Good luck Jen!

I know, I also waffle back and forth on this. Lately, I have been thinking of it this way...If she weren't a pretty girl from a well-to-do family, would I have the same sympathy for her? I don't normally feel any sympathy for someone who has multiple shoplifting charges against them...and then that same person goes on to pull a stunt like she did. What if she were a crack addict from a trailer park...who had the same criminal record...and then fled and lied about the circumstances?

Yes, her life is a mess, but she's made it a mess. Much as any other garden-variety criminal has. Our criminal system is loaded with them. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the next time out, she does something even more daring. Criminals seem to do the same thing over and over again. Why? Who knows....

Interesting...because I think the opposite...the fact that she IS a pretty girl from a well-to-do family is why many people DON'T feel sympathy for her.

I think that someone who is at least perceived as being a person of privilege and yet manages to screw it all up is more likely to be ridiculed and picked apart than your average Joe. Somehow it proves to the masses that money doesn't buy happiness, blah blah, and that the so-called privileged are even more messed up than the rest of us. JMO, of course. ;)

p.s. speaking of messed up, has anyone else read her statement to the NM police detailing her alleged sexual assault? man, that girl is twisted.... :D

I don't think she's pretty at all. In fact I think she's kinda homely. That being said, I have a very small bit of sympathy for her situation as it'll be hard to overcome the noteriety.
