Columbus police are currently searching for a woman reported missing on Saturday.

Jilani Platt, 26, was last seen at her Crystal Court home near Macon Road early Saturday, Lt. Lynn Joiner said. She’s black, 5-foot-2 and about 180 pounds with short, spiked hair.

The Crystal Court area is being searched, Joiner added.

During the investigation, Zyderrious Anthony Platt, 31, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Joiner said. The arrest of Platt, who Joiner said is either married or divorced from the missing woman, isn’t related to the search.

“We were investigating a missing person,” Joiner said. “He is a felon and he had a firearm.”

Investigators found the body of 26-year-old Jilani Platt a little after noon Monday in a retention pond next to Schatulga Road. The woman’s husband, 31-year-old Zyderrious Anthony Platt, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Jurors took less than an hour and a half to convict Platt of the October 2009 murder, feticide and aggravated assault of his wife, 26-year-old Jilani Platt, and her 10-week, unborn child, JaLon Elizabeth King.

Muscogee County Superior Court Judge Bobby Peters then sentenced Platt to two consecutive life sentences, plus five additional years on a weapons charge.
