I had to Google the wife’s name in order to find any new documents.
The court document is dated January 14, 2021; it appears to be the 2nd court date concerning the divorce.
CASE OF ACTION: Divorce (includes Annulment)
REMARKS: Complaint for Divorce involving Minor Children created from Import from Peachcourt

Divorce by Publication in Georgia - Missing Spouse | 3 Step Divorce

When a Spouse Cannot Be Found in Georgia
A Georgia divorce by publication happens "only after a judge has been convinced, based on a sworn declaration, of the serving party's inability to find the Defendant after trying hard. Service by publication is commonly used in a divorce action to serve a spouse who has disappeared without a leaving a forwarding address..."

When the Respondent cannot or will not be found (and, therefore, fails to respond to the Summons), the Petitioner must conduct what is termed a "diligent search" followed by Service by Publication.

In order to be eligible for a "Divorce by Publication" in GA, you must complete and submit an Affidavit of Diligent Search form to the court. This document clearly outlines all of the actions you have taken to locate your spouse, essentially proving to the court that your spouse absolutely can't be found.

When the court is satisfied with the effort, it Issues an Order of Publication, which gives the Petitioner permissions to publish a Notice of Publication four times within 60 days, with each publication being seven days apart.

The court can grant a Georgia divorce in by publication action, but it cannot make any decisions regarding child custody, child support or division of property.

Georgia Service by Publication is described in O.C.G.A. §9-11-4(f)(1)

it doesn’t seem like anyone is looking for him! Unless there is info known by family. Even if his wife isn’t searching you would assume his parents or siblings would. That leads me to believe they know something. Moo

I got the same impression.

The main reason I could think of is to get the truck into the shade. A vehicle under the shade of a tree will be much cooler to come back to than one out in the open.

I thought this also, but the highs during that month are about 70, so not your typical sweltering Florida heat.

According to NamUs, John Dax Dunn told his daughter and coworkers that he was going fishing in Florida, "somewhere near Tampa."

According to the Facebook group dedicated to finding this missing person, "He was last seen on 2/15 at the Circle K gas station located on 4 Hwy 19 S in Inglis, FL (90 miles north of Tampa)."

Newnan to Midway to Inglis is about 403 miles. The direction of travel is mainly south and points toward Tampa Bay. However, it's difficult to ascertain where he was heading as there are many fishing locals in the region.

His vehicle was found in the Yankeetown area. Furthermore, his Internet searches focused on the Cedar Key area prior to his trip.

I second your bump! What ever happened with the divorce proceedings, custody, deadline to respond? I wonder if relatives will go through the process to have him declared dead in another 2-4 years. Hinky meter still HIGH for me with this case. I was hoping maybe Dog the Bounty Hunter would find JDD (while searching for Brian Laundrie) on one of those little islands off Fort DeSoto. And did that kayak ever turn up anywhere? So many questions still!

ETA: I sure wish I knew what his closest friends & coworkers think about this whole situation.

John "Dax" Dunn - Disappeared

Posted April 22, 2022

Disappearance
On February 13, 2020, Dunn was last seen at his residence in Newnan, Georgia, around 4:30 pm. He told his family he had plans for a four-day weekend fishing trip alone near Tampa.

On February 14, 2020, Dunn made the long trip from Georgia to Florida in his vehicle, a 2013 white Nissan Frontier. Later that day, he used his debit card to make a purchase in Midway, off of Interstate-10.

On February 15, 2020, Dunn stopped at a Circle K gas station on 4 Highway 19 S in Inglis, Florida. He purchased energy drinks, snacks, and gas with his debit card. Later that day, he rented a room at a motel in Inglis, Florida.

On February 17, 2020, Dunn rented a 10.5 foot long lime green kayak and life vest from Paddles Outdoor Rentals, a canoe and kayak rental service in Crystal River, Florida.

Dunn never returned home from his weekend fishing trip, and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

On February 18, 2020, his family grew concerned when Dunn failed to show up for work and filed a missing persons report with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigation
On March 3, 2020, authorities discovered Dunn’s abandoned pickup truck, a 2013 white Nissan Frontier with license Georgia plate QFK2741, partially hidden in a thicket of trees, near the boat ramp at the end of County Road 40, in Yankeetown, Florida.

Authorities found fishing rods and reels in the bed of the truck, as well as a travel bag with clothes and a cooler inside. Authorities found no evidence of foul play in or near the truck.

The vehicle was found locked, with the keys missing along with Dunn’s wallet and pistol. The kayak, spear gun, and life vest, which were never returned to the Crystal River’s rental service, were also missing.

His phone records, bank account, and social media have had no activity since February 15, 2020.

Whereabouts
Police found no evidence, means, or motive for foul play in John Dax Dunn’s disappearance. A $1,000 reward is being offered by his family for information that leads to his location.

The circumstances of John Dax Dunn’s disappearance remain unclear, and his case is currently classified as missing. His case remains unsolved.
