Police searching for persons of interest after missing man found dead inside car
''ATLANTA — Atlanta police are working to learn what happened in the moments before a missing Atlanta man was found dead in his car outside of a Dairy Queen.

Police say John David Woodall was last seen at Grady High School at 6:30 p.m. on August 3 for a meeting with his daughter’s teacher.

His daughter says he told her that he was going to take her laptop to a nearby store to get fixed, but did not say exactly where. He texted her just after 7 p.m. to tell her he had dropped it off. That was the last time his family heard from him.

There were also several charges on their credit card statement without addresses that were made after he spoke to his family.

When he had not returned the next day, Woodall’s wife reported him missing.

Just before 8:45 p.m. that evening, officers were called to the parking lot of Dairy Queen on North Ave. to find a man dead in a car. He was later identified as Woodall.

Officers said the doors to the 2020 Toyota RAV-4 he was driving were locked. When paramedics were able to get inside, they did not find any obvious signs of trauma.

His cause of death has not been released.''

''Police are now releasing surveillance footage that shows two men in the parking lot at the same time Woodall’s car was there. In the video, two men can be seen walking out of the parking lot and turning right before coming back to the parking lot.''

''ATLANTA - The Atlanta Police Department is asking the public's help in identifying two persons of interest in a death investigation on Aug. 4 on 410 North Avenue.

Security camera footage at a drive-thru captures one person dressed in all black — including a shirt that says "Klien" across the shoulders on the back — with black hair and white shoes.

Another person of interest is dressed in a white hat with a black shirt and white shoes.
The security footage shows them parking a dark-colored Toyota SUV.

Police believe they are linked to a man's body found dead on 410 North Avenue earlier this month. Police discovered the body slumped over in a Toyota RAV 4 in a Dairy Queen parking lot, according to a police report. ''

This is not a closed case. APD and detective on case refuse to return phone calls. Any ideas on how to get this resurfaced?

Perhaps contact newspapers to see if they will do an article on him.

Something interesting to note. The security camera footage in the article linked to this initial post is actually from a Wendy's drive-through camera. The body was found at a Dairy Queen just a few blocks down the street. No cause of death has been announced to family and this is now three months later. The investigation is still ongoing with 'APD top homicide team on the case'. These POI supposedly 'have been identified and are in custody'.

I just do not understand a lot. I have developed lots of theories but that doesn't actually help if detectives are not responding to any family. But note the time stamps on the images in the article here. Car idling with lights on at 5:30am August 4th. Then parked. Then the POI seem to be returning to the parking lot at 6:33am. Where did they go? Why did they come back and then move the car down the street? Attached is a map I made following the timeline of events. Starting at Grady High School (A) ending at Dairy Queen (D).

I have finally come to this forum because I do not know what else to do. I do know that I want answers and Atlanta Police Department are keeping everything to themselves. Is this normal? Three months after the fact and knowing nothing?

Thank you all in advance...

I do not know much about Georgia, but in some states the Attorney General's office is charged with oversight of law enforcement, it sounds as if you know/are a member of the deceased family -- crime victims; this page also mentions Public Corruption:

<modsnip: Referenced post removed due to dead link that was not an approved MSM source> ... Lamima, keys were not with body upon discovery and body was in the passenger seat of the car. Please see below pieces from an article by Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

John David Woodall, 52, was found dead in the passenger seat of a gray 2020 Toyota RAV-4 on Aug. 4, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Anthony Grant said.

Police released surveillance video Wednesday from a Wendy’s parking lot on Boulevard that appears to show two men interacting with the RAV-4. The Wendy’s is less than a mile from the Dairy Queen on North Avenue, Grant confirmed.

The footage appears to show one of the men driving the RAV-4 and backing into a parking spot around 5:30 a.m. Both men then seem to walk away from the car and return to the Wendy’s parking lot about an hour later. They then drove to the Dairy Queen, Grant said.

Eight hours later, police were called about a person inside a vehicle in the parking lot, according to an incident report released Wednesday. Officers said they spotted the RAV-4 with a man slumped in the front passenger seat. The SUV was locked.

Grant confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the two men shown in the surveillance footage took the RAV-4′s key with them after walking away from the car.

After a towing company assisted in unlocking the vehicle, police did not identify any “visible trauma” to Woodall’s body. The medical examiner’s report has not been released to police [as of the time this article was written], so the incident is being ruled as a death investigation, Grant said.

Around noon that day [August 4th], Woodall was reported missing by his wife after he didn’t return home after telling his daughter he was going to fix her computer the prior evening, a missing persons report also released Wednesday shows. Woodall messaged his daughter Aug. 3 to say he had fixed the computer at a shop in Midtown. That was the last the family heard from him, the report said.

Shortly after, there were several charges on the family credit card without an address to verify where the transactions were coming from, the report reveals.

The family told police that Woodall was last seen in a 2016 dark gray Toyota Highlander with the Georgia tag CKU2175. Grant did not say if the Highlander was recovered.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 404-577-8477, going online to www.crimestoppersatlanta.org, or texting CSA and the tip to CRIMES (274637). Tipsters can receive up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification of the two men shown in the video.

The Rav, imo.

I'm thinking John's car is the Highlander according to what family told LE. "The family told police that Woodall was last seen in a 2016 dark gray Toyota Highlander".

JW arrived in a TH, but his body was found in a different car, a Rav -4?

It's weird because the opening post says "Officers said the doors to the 2020 Toyota RAV-4 he was driving were locked".

Hopefully green5513 can clear that up for us.

ETA: Not sure of the colour of the 2020 Rav-4, but the basic car bodies look very similar:

2020 Toyota Rav-4

2016 Toyota Highlander
